As you all know there is a new Scarab in Halo 3 that looks smaller and alot weaker then the one that was just about invincible in Halo 2, and we have to fight it. Does any body know why there is another scarab?

Maybe an economy version? Like the SPARTAN III's. Cheaper and faster to build. Just a guess.

There's very likely to be different models and scales for scarabs

In first strike it mentions spider diggers (or something) but they were blown up by a single wraith shot to each

Also, the new scarab is alot more combat orientated, the scarabs in halo 2 were more or less purpose built mining machines, because the covenant didn't expect a fight when they came to earth

The one in halo 3 has a secondary main turret, which points towards it being built for combat

The different models thing makes sense, it's like having different hulls or classes on a ship.  Some are for shooting everyone to hell, some are for troop transport, and some are for mining like was already said.

Maybe they're just letting you destroy it this time, like the phantom, you can shoot that down in halo 3, but it was invinsible in halo 2.

No waaaaay... that's madness! Realy? My main premise for thinking weeks is right would be that Earth has still got humans on it, that some troops in the campaign (from some press thing I read) were talking about the recently destroyed New Mombassa Orbital Elevator and that Slipspace from Delta Halo to Earth surely can't take that long, even if the trip is made twice. This is assuming the game picks up right after the line, 'Finish the fight.' That's my logic, if you have some decent facts for the years thing I'd like to hear them.

srry dude i don't wanna fight but you are wrong. it takes place two weeks after halo2,because it to the forerunner ship 2 weeks to reach each. that's because high charity was in a different galaxy or sumthing like that.
