Big news on two fronts:
First, you guys asked for it, so there will indeed be a global Leaderboard reset for Halo Wars and this will occur 11/5/10 (Friday) sometime in the morning. This reset will wipe all current leaderboards, but it won't affect game histories, stats, etc. So start honing your skills now because you'll once again have the chance to prove who's the best and who's simply a fine gentleman.
I've seen many of you ask how we'll be handling cheaters/boosters and I can say that there will NOT be a "tattletale" thread. The way we'll handle this is as such: please e-mail us at preview@halowaypoint.com with any links to game stats for players who have been boosting. We'll do our best to take appropriate actions.
Second, as of right now, new members joining the forum will no longer have the ability to post. What this means is that membership is effectively closed. There may come a time in the future when we'll grant posting privileges to all of the members that have signed up after this date, but that date is TBD. Over at the Halo Waypoint forums, I saw a few of you suggesting that we should merge the forums and that's definitely something that we've started thinking about. But for the foreseeable future, we want to let all of you continue to post here, while also keeping in mind that Halo Wars discussion is absolutely welcome over at the Halo Waypoint forums. This goes for new members wishing to post here, as well.
I know this changes things a lot and it will take some getting used to; but, unfortunately, there won't be any leniency with the new membership posting privileges policy. Specifically, what this means for you guys is that suspensions and bans are now very serious business. I strongly recommended refreshing yourselves on the site's extremely ancient yet still completely relevant Code of Conduct. If you violate these rules, you may be suspended or even permanently banned. Like I said, this will take some getting used to, so beginning RIGHT NOW, please be very careful when you post, and think twice or even three times before you hit that post button. Ask yourself, "Is what I'm writing inappropriate? Is it worth permanently losing my ability to post on these forums and participate in discussions? I'm sure there will be plenty of casualties before this sinks in, but we will be handing out perma-bans from the start where necessary. So please be careful and err on the side of caution when posting.
Thanks, and I hope you're looking forward to playing after the reset as well as posting in a place that has less trolling and more Halo Wars discussion!
