My most embarrasing rts moment took place in AoE 3. it was 1v1. my town was on the right side of the map. my opponents top left side and he had a fort and many millitary buildings on the bottom left. the fort was walled off like crazy. anyway, i had broken through the walls of his fort. all of his main uildings were gone but i left five mortars to crush his walls for the XP points. i moved on to his main city and for the most part, destroyed it to. he had put up some resistance, but not enough to make a difference. again, i wanted XP points, so i didn't finish him. i simply kept control over everything, and made sure he stayed down. this went on for about 15 minutes when suddenly notification flares went off where his town was. RESISTANCE! he had had a mill and atleast three barracks in the very back of his town. how foolish i had been! i should have been patroling. i had wasted all my resources on the mortars and trading posts. (keep in mind, this is back when i was less expirienced, my economy wasn't exactly the best in the game) the uprising took all of my remaining soldiers, he even sent a few horses for my mortars. afterwards he went on and on about how "you did good for a newb" and "you almost had me" i replied simply by saying, "i did have you".
i was a very sad day. i had won, but i was greedy, and that bought him time to rebuild. what a terrible game!
ps: you guys play stronghold 2? is it any better than stronghold crusader? i tryed to play it once, and the view was way too far off, and my computer couldn't even handle the first five minutes of an offline skirmish.
