    Starcraft 2 tutorials...

Are there any that details the basics like units, maps, getting started, etc.? I've searched google/youtube but most guides are complete sh*t.

http://www.blip.tv/file/3732340 is probably the best guide to begin with.  It's less about specific maps/units because those change as gameplay evolves and more about how to approach the game as a whole.  You have to skip like 2 minutes in to actually get to the daily.  Day9 just talks for a bit beforehand.

Not fine gentleman enough. I meant more functional things like units, stats, strategies, etc. instead of that guy talking about APM or something.

    Re: Starcraft 2 tutorials...

Day9 has the best gameplay analysis.  He obviously goes beyond APM, and that probably is the best beggining guide.  He also does breakdowns of some of the pros build orders and why they work.

Since I saw you play terran: http://www.blip.tv/file/3752216.  136 & 137 are the other two matchups.  Everything else you'll find online is just a build order, as unit counters don't really exist.

    Basic builds and strategies:

Or, just play your practice matches and steal the strategies of the people who wreck you, watch replays and see what they did. Faster than watching videos until you're decent enough to appreciate day9. Huskystarcraft is ok for learning.

What a waste of time, everybody knows you can't magically become high level by being coached by people like day9. The only way to get better is through matchmaking. If the potential isn't there than just go back to farmville.

    Enough of these dumb threads

    You're misunderstanding again :).

If you think I'm saying you can't learn from other peoples' mistakes or that I think the only way to improve is by laddering, you're sorely mistaken and probably can't read very well.

Day9 doesn't tell you what strategies to use or coaches, he commentates games. Starcraft II isn't a basic strategy game like halo wars where it tells you exactly what counters what in the unit description so you either have to find out yourself or you can watch other people find out.

There is a difference between viewing basic build orders, a step I personally skipped, as a new player and being taught how to be 'top' by a mediocre player.

The fact is that in halo wars, becoming good is absurdly easy and evidently if players aren't becoming top by themselves  pretty quickly, their stupidity is irredeemable.

Bad people don't become 'the new generation of top players' by being taught by fine gentlemen, I agree.

    Re: Starcraft 2 tutorials...

Honestly I think just playing is the best way to get better, you can only lerarn so much from guides etc.

I started out in the game with 3-32 record...Now It's like 50-50 or something, and I think I improve with every tough game I play.

Atm Im waiting on getting a better computer because this one can't run it for crap.

EDIT: To add on, I always watched replays of people who played really well, it's a great way to get better, and to realise what you did wrong.

Oh so you're not actually LEARNING, you're just "stealing" and "watching". I guess I was wrong after all...

P.S. Bad players DO become the next "top level generation" by "stealing" what the current best do. In fact, I'm pretty sure humanity (well, some of us anyway) evolved over thousands of years in this very way. Oh and here's a protip: just because there isn't a guide telling you that certain units counter others doesn't mean they don't, they still do and you still have to LEARN them. Every (read: Ev-a-Ree) RTS  is a complex (sometimes overly) version of rock paper scissors. Now if you only used common sense for THAT game, you'd use rock everytime and expect to win, wouldn't you? Lrn2Lrn my friend!
