    1st person view?

I've been thinking to myself, "Just how would this game seperate itself from all those OTHER strategy games? I mean, I want it to be something special, it IS Halo after all."

The next thought was, "Maybe there will be playable 1st person segments/modes."

Just think about it for a second. If things aren't exactly going your way, just hop into a spartan and whup ass!

OR, even the simple option to view the fight from 1st person perspective would give Halo Wars a very distinct Halo feel.

    THOUGHTS?

OOOOOOO i got an idea of what they might be doing.

They might be doing the actuall AOE thing, make up your armies and that, but when you go to attack the enemy, it turns into first-person and you can actually LIVE the battle.????? That MIGHT be what they are doing.

Well, I'm not so sure about THAT, but I do think a 1st person option could be a good thing. Ensemble is an RTS company, and I don't think they'd want to downplay the strategy aspect of the game like that.

    Re: 1st person view?

I think that would be cool, to just click a unit and command it first person, but I think they should limit this to some point.

    1) You can go first person, but you can only stay in the area of which the unit is, like a "Battle Zone"

    2) You have to be careful because, while you are in First, battles on the side of the base could become attacked. So if you goof off, your base gets destroyed while you arent lookin.

Well ill Tell Ensemble Studios one thing,  Company of Heroes has set the new bar in the RTS world. If you can't beat it or make it equal too CoH  then dont bother supporting it...of course its only my opinion and maybe a lot or none of ppl who played CoH would agree to what i say. Its nice to have a Halo RTS....too bad its only on 360....as well i will judge Halo Wars gameplay to all RTS no matter if its only the 360. Since ES decided to go RTS they will not get a handicap cuz its 360 Cool

P.S.  i do luv Halo for those who think im just a Halo Hater.

CoH has set a high bar for RTS, In my opinion, it is one of the best structered RTSs I have ever played.

I dont think HW will measure up to CoH, but maybe if it was for PC, then we could decide.

What about just being able to move the camera down to ground level?

    Re: 1st person view?

First person in an RTS wouldn't be all that surprising to me. Dungeon Keeper 2, for instance, had it.  (granted it wasn't the best first person concept, mainly because of era and graphics, but it was cool to create units then "jump into them")  Not sure if the first DK did...I never played it.

    Re: 1st person view?

I have a feeling it will be like Star Wars Commandos...

You know how in that game you were first person but you commanded a squad of 3-5 commando's... and if you die they medic you up ect... I think the game will be something similer to this, because in the regular Holo Series, if you were doing Co-op... and you died but your partner did it, by the end of the fight you'd get rezed, like he gave you a HP pack or somethin like that.. because if you died and you just died that'd suck... like regular Halo...

so pretty much yeah should be first person but you can switch between spartans/marines... w/e you end up being for the regular game... ( since there wont really be a main character... you might run into Master Chief or something in it, but he'll just be some sort of guy that will pop in and murder everything when you seem like your going to die...

    Master Chief:
What about just being able to move the camera down to ground level?

How would that seperate HW from any other RTS, though?

A full-on FPS mode could really give it that "Halo" feel.

Uh , thats not how its going to be, Commandos was a squad based FPS, Not RTS at all.

Someone said, ground level. Alot of games do that, and REALLY let you get in there, If we cant get First-Person, At least give us some awesome closeups we can drool at.

    Re: 1st person view?

You have to take into consideration the company making this game.

Ensemble is known for RTS's....not FPS's with slight RTS-ish gimmicks...

Well ES  said (correct me if im wrong) that they will make this RTS not feel like its missing something (uhhh its not the exacting wording but the idea is close). Also, do you dought ur 360? do u think it wont hit the type of physics that CoH has?? its all up too ES

    Re: 1st person view?

i think first person is a great idea but my idea is a bit better in my opinion.

    heres my ideas

1)if your commanding all your forces then its like AOE but if you decide to command just one squad(like lead a battalion into battle) then you can go FP into the leader for that squad (or just stay like AOE)

2)and/or you could go FP for reconasains runs like for scoping out the area and gathering a tactical map so you can get a good view of strong/weak points.

    well there they are

    Re: 1st person view?

I dont think that would be a good idea to play as 1st person but woul be pretty sweet to see some action from first person prospective.
