If anyone should make an MMO either the makers on AION(guild wars) or blizzard makers of wow should take up the project since they make the best MMO's at the moment just microsoft would make you pay to play online knowing them :(
Blizzard makes you pay, and I believe that AION is a pay-required game as well. You'd be lucky to have a Halo MMO that's free.

So creating a game that would allow players to freely roam colony planets such as Reach, Harvest and Covenant planets like Sangheilos would be a step back? A game that could be so chock full of Halo-lore you'd need three notebooks to sort it all out?
I fail to see your point [if we love Halo why do we want more games.] Why wouldn't we want more Halo games? Books are great, but they don't have the same sort of interaction that a game has.

But so ya know the i havent bought AION or WOW for the fact you need to pay more one u bought the game just to play the dam thing,
But AION is made by the same team that created Guild wars and currently making Guild wars 2 both of these games are free to play online and are close competitors to WoW,
So if they took the project they might make it free to play online considering the amount of people that would buy the halo MMORPG and guildwars has things you can buy it store for you characters. so instead of pay to play online its more of a choice if you wanna pay more for your character
So yea makers of guild wars for the halo MMORPG project unless blizzard stops being money grabbing idiots that would make the game but make it free online
