sorry for creating a new thread. but I REALLY want ROBOT to at least consider the following:
keep the original ranking system from before and make it easier to get the achievement. Meaning people will have to work even harder for general, but the achievement could be for people who get colonel, or even Commander if you wanted.
Right now, most colonel really suck at this game and that is what you are proposing making the new general. Someone could literally get general in a week practically. And for sure less than a month. That is not nearly enough experience to actually be a real general in my opinion. I mean sure, go ahead and make the halo fanboys happy and give them their 50G and waypoint advancement... But what about your true fans? Why would you nullify the rank that they worked so long for? Please at least consider making the achievement available after Colonel/Commander.
And if the wording that you are not happy about, well think of it this way, you already have that Anders get stuff for half price and time. that's not true anymore (and besides, it says UNIT upgrades in game so I never understood why she got all the field armory upgrades for half...) So who cares if it says "you obtained general rank" instead of colonel rank? No one, because they just want to be the geekyest person in the world and have every achievement for halo. I'm sure most of them wouldn't care if it said Disney character names for every achievement. And the ones that do care for actually "Being on top" would take the hundreds of hours of gameplay and get the general rank.
