I was playing on Glacial Ravine I controlled most of the map the enemy only had one base. I go in there with two tanks and find a scarab it takes out my tanks. i go in with the rest of my forces 5 minuets latter and the scarab is gone. I blow up the base it says I won I search the map for it and it is not there. Has this happened to you 

Best guess? You're ally killed it when you weren't paying attention.

The other possibility is that the Scarab got caught by a shield and cut in half. It's not pretty. Respond if you want a more thourough (sp) answer.
