    Expanding to 2nd bases

When why and what situations is it worth it to expand or a rough timeline when building a second base will start paying you back econ wise granted the fact second base is usually used in exile because its free just curious on others thoughts or facts. Mainly talking about 3v3 but other comments are welcome by good players.

    Re: Expanding to 2nd bases

It depends. 1. You want to expand when you have decent eco to make up for the 500 that a base costs. Blowing 500 on a base is pointless if you get rushed by hornets and you don't have $ to stop them. 2. Preferably before your opponent. More bases=Double pumping units, better eco 3. Don't wait too long. If a Forge expands because you haven't put enough pressure on him, he could easily out eco you and win. I generally expand 7 to 12 minutes in, depending on my opponent(s) and how aggressive they are. In 3v3 I always expand before I upgrade my starting base to 7 slots (which almost never happens anyway). Early expansion can be great if you scout and see that your opponent(s) are being defensive. If they are overly aggressive... idk. Most of the people I play are idiots because my TS is only 26, but since i started playing again I brought it up 7 points in a week with only 1 loss out of about 40. So I don't rock the ***, but I don't suck. I would say I am "good".

The 2nd base is the best early game boost to your economy. In exile, a recruit will just try and frenzy take all the bases on the map, only to have them r@ped by an army of jackels(one jackel *wink wink recruit*)

    Re: Expanding to 2nd bases

in 3v3 in exile it's a good idea to expand right away but only on the second and third teir and only if your the only one doing it.

on fort deen or frozen valley first use your first base and rush then build up again for attack then if that dosnt work take the rest of your remaining forces for another base then give it another attack.

expanding can be difficult to choose when but normally rush, attack, expand

    Re: Expanding to 2nd bases

see when i play forge i typically will go sp,bar (3-4 marines) recycle,sp,sp, and so on but i didnt know if it was done quick enough if you get it done b4 a rush comes or something, and then take those marines and go get one of the side walls on fort deen or the sniper towers on frozen vally and use the others to scout sometimes i get lucky and catch a base being built with 3 2 star marines and grenade it and screw them over right away : ) just theorycrafting i suppose, the leader combination your up against has a lot to do with it to i suppose

    Re: Expanding to 2nd bases

Generally not a bad idea to add a flamethrower or 2, they'll save your marines a little bit of health.  Also, don't recycle the barracks unless you intend to replace it with something else.  If you still haven't finished building on your base, just keep it until you need the space for something else.

its very good if you can do it fast enough,if you still have 5 buildings dont upgrade your base for 400, get a new one for 500 with 3 instead of 2 extra. not worth it if you already have 5 pads and havent cleared a base yet, on exile, atleast one person on your team needs to grab another base
