    [FF] The Jiralhanae - Part 2 - Harvest - Ch. 6-10

See part 1 if you have not already (See Sig)

                                                               Chapter 6 - Preparations

The Jiralhanae were ordered into a singular warship, designed specifically for them--the phantoms and spirits transporting them into the awaiting vessel.  The Brutes were ordered off to a planet called "Harvest", a name with no significant meaning to the Jiralhanae at the time--however it was ordered by the Prophets so it must be done.  Arterus looked up from his spot on the phantom, around the group as they entered the hangar en masse with other transports.  An almost confused expression covering his face.

After being dropped off into the hangar, they made their way around the ship.  Arterus walked casually through the corridors of the edifice of a warship--it was magnificent for him.  These people, who were assimilated only months early into this new and strange race--had their own SHIP now.  Every Jiralhanae showed upmost respect for each other; as Arterus wandered around through the various rooms and corridors on this warship--many brutes whom he once called his enemies nodded to him.

Pressing a button on the wall, many small patterns of metal opened in an intricate process of a door--Arterus pondering why such an overly-complicated manner was needed for a door.  He shrugged it off, moving in--three more brutes already in there and what will be their beds already made--including his.  Two brute minors and a brute-captain--all in their designated armor and colours.  They all stood at attention when Arterus entered the room, one of the minors obviously just finishing up his resting place.

Stepping over, feeling rather proud and confident he looked down at the bed-like structure.  Nodding approvingly, Arterus patted the brute on the shoulder, "Very good.  Please, rest." he said solemnly, humble words for a Jiralhanae--it was strange.  Even he questioned himself in his head immediately afterwards of the praise.  The brute nodded confidently and gripped the bunk atop of Arterus' and pulled himself up, everyone nude in their fur except for Arterus.  Him casually stripping himself of his armor.

As he sat down in his bunk, Arterus lie back and close his eyes--the soft fabric cushioning his head was a new luxury for him. It was nice.  His eyes drifted off, sleep starting to envelop him as his eyes flutter shut.  The first sleep he has had in almost a week, however, it would not last very long unfortunately.  Arterus was restless throughout the night, or what was percieved as night--there is no night in space.  Semantics however, he could not sleep for the life of him.

Speaking softly to himself, "Why are we the only ship going to this planet...do we not have reinforcements?"  The brute captain a few meters away, his name was Parsus, "Shit if I know.  I heard these new vermin are but a test for us--more or less.  We are to put, what the Sangheili call, 'throwing the first punch.' in an upcoming 'holy war'."  Arterus nodded to himself and sighed, "Let us hope for much blood and glory then, brother." the Brute Minor above him nodded silently to himself, not speaking a word.

He dozed off at that point, getting some well deserved rest.  What seemed like a few days later, the ship finally reached a certain proximity of this strange planet--Harvest--not a single Jiralhanae was not anxious.  The young Tartarus was rumoured to be on the ship, this only rose the spirits of the brutes for battle even more---the awaiting humans had no idea what was coming when their radars picked up these strange signatures.

Arterus entered the engineering bay of the Carrier, two brutes guarding outside nodded to him as the door immediately opened.  Inside many tinkerers and such were working on some strange vehicles and weaponry.  One walked up to Arterus and handed him his Gravity Hammer--looking rather heavy it was surprsingly not.  Perhaps it's because of the release of gravity of that--Arterus--and other Brutes--did notice that they had a bit more...flexibility than usual.

Indeed it was true.  The lowered pressure of Gravity from Doisac, but enough to hold their large bodies down gave them the perfect attributes to increase their strength almost 10 fold (due to everything being two or three times less heavy to them) and their strange new ability to jump almost 4 meters into the air.

Nodding to the brute handing him the hammer, Arterus slung it over his back and walked on.  Looking at a few more engineers working on a strange metallic machine--it was a motorcycle, but battle equipped.  Two cannons on front shot out short bursts of energy that would give small explosions on contact--the crude steel curves to it making it an All Terrain Compatible vehicle, and for the more rudimentary art of running somebody over.

Arterus smiled approvingly of this killing machine, not so flimsy like the Covenant "Ghosts" and such.  And why should he not?  Stepping out of the Engineering bay, more soldiers were walking in and getting their weapons, wandering out towards their transports to ready.  As Arterus entered the hanger, he was matched in the same Phantom of Martkus coincidentally--or not--Martkus ordered it.  They both looked out at the strange planet, a few of these, what they now called human, warships wait ready for them..

Re: [FF] The Jiralhanae - Part 2 - Harvest

                                                                         Trepidation

They did not know why a mostly brute ship was here to fight against these strange new beasts.  It was whispered that we have already fought, but they did not know--nor did the JIralhanae care at this point.  They were mindless, blind, zealous warriors for this new religion they have known for less than a year.  They were far more brutal as well--and would be a bit less careful around these forerunner artifacts--the Prophets thoguht--and that's what they needed.  The Elites respected them too much to crush the humans on this planet.  However, as said, the Brutes did not know--nor did they care.

Arterus stood silently in the corner of his Phantom as usual, his bunkmates from the previous night and about eight new faces also line up in wait with him.  Some grunts also mixed into the group--but they were mere cannon fodder.  The brutes heard from the few Sangheili on the ship that were present of the Grunt Rebellion, and the Brutes were rather harsh with these new creatures.  Arterus specifically, who kicked--quite forcefully--a grunt beside him whom was talking.

Smirking heinously to himself, Martkus grinned back at the action.  The phantoms drew nearer to the human ships, as fire was beginning to erupt from the behemoths of steel.  Shots reigned out from each opposing ships--the Covenant's firepower vastly outpowering these flimsy flesh beasts that they call humans'--the brutes loved this sheer force of power.  It made them feel stronger, not only in themselves but as a now united race as whole.

As thousands of Phantoms swarmed into this new atmosphere, the release of gravity began to shift on the brutes--they were feeling that odd increased movement and strength (from the reduced gravity, again) beginning to free them from the tyranny of this specific form of physics.  Another quote noteable thing they enjoyed.  Arterus' phantom slowly came to a halt in the middle of a field of bullets, the bodies of thousands what being reaped this season.

The sides of the phantom opened up, two grunts opening fire on either side from their cannons on all the light infantry on the ground--many of the humans getting sliced right through by this new strange weapon of plasma--their bodies disintegrating from the inside.  Arterus jumped down, the ground seeming to crack under his very weight, however, at the same time he was but a feather.  A few shots clanked against his armor to his left, his ears perking.

He turned and charged blindly into the oncoming fire, his head tilted down so the bullets would ring off of his helmet.  Approaching an entrenchment of Humans, Arterus jumped over the sandbags as his feet crushed down on two smaller humans in civilian clothing, teenagers whom were barely of age.  It held no ground to Arterus, he knew nothing of their rituals and age differences.  All he saw was bloodlust.

Another human gripped his arm, in futility trying to pull him off the already crushed boys' bodies.  Easily overpowering, Arterus merely flung his arm in the opposite direction harshly as the man flung almost twenty feet and into the path of a chopper--being run over and quickly dsipersed of in such manner.  More shots rang against his armor, holding no damage whatsoever as he turned again.  This was his first time with his hammer.  Swinging it down as it created a small shockwave of force, slamming into a human a few feet away and splashing his body into every given direction.

Taken back by the sheer force a bit, Arterus fell backwards after the slam in the unusual kickback.  On his ass, a rocket flew over him--one aimed for him--and went into another brute.  The brute exploding completely, his uniform partially getting onto Arterus.  "Oh fuck no.." he mumbled, stumbling up and glaring at the group of humans.  They stared back, right into the brutes eyes in terror.  Arterus ran forward and let out a bone tingling roar of fury, leaping into the air and slamming down in the middle of the group of humans.

He landed on the culprit who fired the shot, dropping his hammer and pounding his fists away at the mans face.  The human was somehow living through this, taking the beastly strikes to the face over and over--his skull literally caving into itself and leading to his overall death after a few seconds of slaughter.  The other two humans stood back, in shock almost.  Once he was obviously dead, they took out their assault rifles from their sides and fired from the hip at Arterus.  Gripping his hammer, he slammed it into the ground to his left, the human flying almost 15 feet into the air and onto his neck--cracking it and killing him.  Spinning he slammed it again, this time the hammer struck him in half in sheer force.

Looking over he could see Martkus.  "Ah crap" Martkus mumbled to himself, he jumped as his jetpack went off as well.  He flew into the air, almost 30 meters and landing about 50 meters forward from where he came in one short burst.  Firing down at another entrenchment of humans with his dual spikers.  The metal sheets of ammunition tearing through their heads savagely.  One going through the arm and into the same mans lung, his arm quite literally pinned to his side as he slowly choked out.

Arterus grinned and nodded in approval, "Damn good." he said proudly, turning to see a strange vehicle on four wheels driving towards him--what he would later call a "Warthog."  Its chaingun fired off at groups of his brethren, tearing them apart from flesh and bone.  Arterus ran forward, mass hunched over as the warthog turned to face him and drive towards him, the gunner preoccupied however with something else--but he was a target for the driver all right.

Arterus lept forward, his knees crashed into the glass of the warthog and shattering it forward; crushing his body mass into the front of the warthog and stopping it instantly.  It reared over forward, the gunner flung forward almost 10 meters onto his face, squirming up.  Arterus kept grip on the warthog however, the passanger and driver still in it as he heaved it over his shoulder and threw it towards the gunner whom was firing off at Arterus at this point.  It crashing into him and the warthog exploding--killing all three.

Banshees and the humans helicopters were in an all out war, dog fighting from all corners.  Suddenly all went black, him stumbling forward and dropping his hammer.  Falling onto his knees, Arterus felt something.  In his chest, shot from a sniper at least half a mile away.  A prime target he thought, grinning to himself as he stood back up--this only empowering him even more.  Grabbing his hammer, thinking away the pain he began to charge forward again, more brutes following in behind.

Jumping up on top of a building, he gripped a human rifleman and flung him behind himself.  Taking a spike grenade--his personal name for the grenade at least--and throwing it to the side, it sticking into a human "Hornet" and blowing up the left rotor, causing it to gyrate out of control and right onto a congregation of a few more humans--crushing them in the impending explosion.  When he reached the end of the roof, Arterus lept forward--a behemoth of a flying machine in front of him.

It was made full of mass and metal, slow moving but deadly as its dual cannons fired upon the ground slowly but viscously.  Destroying everything in its wake, as its pods opened up--unleashing hell upon all that was in its path.  Including dozens of Brutes, in this specific situation.  It was not even thought out, maybe, just mabe, Arterus should have stopped and thought "Hey, maybe this is a really stupid freakin' idea?" but no, he did not.

Leaping forward on top of the Vulture, his sheer weight caused the Vulture to wobble a bit.  One of the pilots looking back in pure fear of Arterus, slapping the pilot on the shoulder a bit too.  Stepping forward he slammed his hammer into the cockpit of the vulture, it crushing under the weight and flying off.  The Vulture began to spin out of control--unusually fast in all directions--Arterus desperately holding on.  He got slammed through a concrete building, flying into a nearby bunker wall as he was flung from the Vulture.

    Everything going black.
