im a cornel with a 1v1 skill lvl of 32. untill now ive faced absolute idiots but im starting to face some people who know what to do, mainly anders players who rush with warthogs. they can have 4 gunner hogs by two min. which is hard to counter with cutter. my current strat is to build an elephant and spam marines till i can get some tanks or air out. any suggestions to improve this?

no it's not I do it all the time.

and sadly the hog rush on a cutter is indeed hard to stop for cutter but buildings an elepahnt and making marines is costly and not very effective, a sure fire way to make them leave you alone is to get two diagnal turrets, now becuase the hogs will come at 2 minutes you have till the fourth building to have your second turret up and running or else this will fail =/

you best bet is to try and get two turrets at start and 2 supplie pads and then barracks and get hooks to make up for your lose, then from there try and get RPG marines and spam those till tanks and with tanks and RPG marines you should be fine against most anders at the level of skill. though I suck with cutter most of all leaders so my advice is more than likly no good but the two turrets thing is true, you have till your fourth buildings to get a second turret up and if you dont it will be more costly then it's worth

On maps like Blood Gulch or Blood River, you should be at least equal with Anders or have the advantage.  I usually will make one elephant on BG as well as a barracks.  The elephant will clear out one side's hooks while flamers from my barracks will try to take the other side's hooks.  If you can do this, you'll have plenty of money to afford turrets, and be able to make counter units to gauss/gremlins.   

 

On maps without lots of hooks, a good Cutter will have a very tough time against a good Anders.  Anders can harass early forcing Cutter to turtle, and Anders can go expanding around the map.  Regardless of where you are playing, map control is essential.

NEVER EVER make an elephant against anders, it wont work out well =/

you either need to put a spartan in it or lose aswell meaing a elephant is a 700$ investment early game along with the marines spawned from it it is VERY costly and takes to long to pay off and it's obvious were the elephant is, near hooks, so I can either jack it or I kill it with hogs. buildings an elepahnt will lose you the game trust me, if you lose it you almost cant win unless some lucky break of a random arby coming and killing all of anders hogs come.

a strat that will somtimes work is getting hogs yourself, with other leaders they can get gunner before anders and you do that and harrass anders hogs before they get gunner and you can even kill all of them meaning anders 2 minutes behind getting 4 more hogs. it will work from time to time and if your hogs are losing then pull them back and use them to get hooks, it's like an elephant without as much as expense =D

I wouldn't really suggest marines because they statistically fail against warthogs. Just start off with 2 diagonal turrets, slap railguns on them, and turtle up until you get some tanks out.

Edit:  And then prepare to get analraped by gremlins.  Because Cutter has such a failure for a unique unit.

omg guys im so sorry im being really tired....... and stupid.....

i ment 3 gunner hogs on 1:25 and 4 on 1:55 :) :P stupid tired me :L.

i beat a cutter earlier on pirth. 3 gunner hog rushed, growing by a hog every 25 seconds, forced them to build a turret on thier main base, and to expand, i quickly killed the expansion, then backed off a bit, scouted saw they were building tanks, built a spartan, stole their elephant , then stole both hooks, built 2 more spartans and 3 gremlins, got gauss, and went for it, they had 2 tanks by this time... perfect for me 2 spartans, emp'd the tanks, hijack them both, and its game over. very hard for cutter to beat anders unless the cutter really knows what he is doing.

I've beaten some good Anders players as Cutter using this strat, there's nothing wrong with it.  Elephants do a decent enough job against warthogs, they have a lot of hp.  The purpose isn't to fight the hogs using it though, it's to capture hooks more than twice as fast as the Anders player. 

If I see them making spartans, I'll put one in it, so they would be using just as much money up as me.  You need to make an elephant on certain maps against Anders, otherwise you'll have no chance...Have you ever fought a top Cutter player as Anders on Blood River.  It's very hard because of the elephant.
