Halo 3: ODST Legendary Ending Discussion *Spoilers are Game*

so after playing through the game and watching the Legendary ending, what are you're thoughts/ speculations?

What was buried underneath the Superintendent?

Is Earth really what we think it is?

i don't know, i guess i might very well be that stupid.

i would think it something else, because it would be very much like Bungie to have a speculative/ cliff-hanger ending, rather than just say, "yep, the Super found the Ark before the Covies did."

    i'm not convinced, yet....

Encrypted AI:its the ARK! stupid =P
It looks more like the portal that leads to the Ark. The Ark isn't on Earth, in fact, it isn't even in the galaxy.

The Engineer contained information as to why the covenant was digging, it doesn't explain this in halo 3 of course but the engineer obviously helped with its "LIMITED" knowledge of the covenant battle plan, probably information on what they were doing etc, of course they had no idea where they would pop up and that lead them to the Ark where they destroyed it, then after that they popped up in the dead space from what i gather the Spirit of Fire intercepted the Mastercheif and cortana.

For those of your interested i have noticed some things that others may have missed.

There are a set of eyes in the sky on the Halo 3 disk

You can see Victoria and Buck on the Halo Reach wallpaper that has been released, questionably the other characters around them are     other     memebers of the known ODST squad but question can be razed as to a different ODST team becaue the ODST that you see in Halo 3 ODST include "replacements" as Buck states them. Rookie is defiantly new from what i gather.

    Epilogue to the Arks destruction:

    Cortana :
"I have sent out a distress beacon but it will be a while before we get a response, years even."
    Cheif:
"Ahh hell! I left my halo 3 disk at home just to shove u in the back of my head to! God *** it!"

Does that mean we play as ODST in Halo Reach? Halo ODST was fun and all but I want to get back to spartans now =/

maybe an ODST multiplayer? holy crap, that would be the best thing in the world. i personally do not like H3 multiplayer, i stink at BRing. but with that AutoMag in Multiplayer? that would kick @ss!! my thoughts on Reach would be a squad-based, ODST-like combat engine, with an ODST multiplayer... instant classic, and what a way to end the series!

as far as the legendary ending for ODST, i just WANT it to be something big and continuous.

I'm pretty sure that the silhouettes are Spartans. The contours match MJOLNIR armor, not ODST armor.

Im pretty sure hwe will play as spartans because the fall of reach was the end of the spartans exept for 4 whcih survived.

So chances are they could be doing reach on the same way they did ODST looking for your team mates in this case spartans.

ODST matchmaking would be sweet its more tatical and you cant use equipment and the atomag and smg are powered down a lil bit since in ODST it was made powerful because nobody would complain about it because it would never be used againt you in game.

A spartan firefight mode would be epic fighting every enermy created in the covies elites, brutes, drones, hunters, jackels, grunts, egineers if i missed any let me no but would be awsome and in reach im sure theres gonna be spartan only weapons since the spartans had supressed sniper rifles and such to help there missons

Aloysius:If you think about it, Galactus is a giant purple alien who eats planets. Kind of like the Covenant.

Wasn't there an argument over where the Portal was buried? Well I guess this settles it, it was under New Mombasa.

And the stucture looked like part of the portal, so is it saying that ONI already discovered the Ark portal, or something else?

"Die?"Kurt laughed."Didn't you know?"he told the Elite. "...Spartans never die."

Re: Halo 3: ODST Legendary Ending Discussion *Spoilers are Game*

It was agreed (I think) that the Portal was both partially under North New Mombasa, and just South East of Voi. It's also around 117 kilometers from my guesses (as well as measuring it out on Google Earth).

As for the ending, the six dots that some think are a tie to the Spartans on the Halo Reach cover were lights, not the squad. However the structure seemed very Forerunner in design.

I feel that Halo is nowhere near the end, as this Legendary ending raised more questions.

I think that that was either the portal, or that it means that Earth is another world somewhat like Onyx.  The Forerunners could've found the early humans on a planet that was totally screwed, then they'd built a new one for them (within the marginot line), and migrated a couple humans there.

oh, now see, THIS is what i'm talking about! good discussion on very possible outcomes.

maybe the Forerunners "reinforced" Earth or simply buried something else near the portal? like an underground colony? or stasis pod cluster?
