If you are going to attempt Legendary difficulty, then you wont get far without this guide. This is the place for the entire walkthrough, all missions in one place. I have done most of the missions and i have done all the harder ones, including super scarab, I also did them all solo. I will write a few levels, but it would help if we all posted in tips and guides, and i will keep it updated. There are alot of threads about different levels, i just thought we can put them all in one place.

 

I would not advise doing Legendary difficulty without all the skulls, but the can be done without them.

 

Mission 7 - Scarab

While all steps are being completed, you need to be running the warthog around the map, and using the MAC blast, destory each power core. You probly wont get all of them, but I wouldnt attack the Scarab without at least 4 destroyed. If your warthog dies, just build another one.

 Step 1 - Setting up the base

As soon as the mission begins, turn on all the debuff skulls. Then start building. You will need to build, four turrets, then upgrade them with ati vehicle attatchment. Then build as many supply pads as you can, and upgrade all of them. Now this is the plan. Send Fordge to the back of your base, away from harm. Then Bunker in the two Rhino's at the left side of your base, this is used to defend the locust and hunter attacks. Then place the scorpion and ODST between the Rhino's. With this defense the base can take care of its self, there is no need for extra defense.

 Step 2 - Building up a force

Now what you need to do is upgrade your reactor. Now buy every upgrade for the Cobra. The Cobra is going to be the only vehicle you need to build. Just keep building as many as your resources will allow.

 Step 3 - Attack!

Now take about 3-4 of them and wait for the search light to reach the middle of the map. When it is at the middle, charge towards the Scarab with the cobras. Making sure you are going to opposite way to the scarab. If you destroyed 4 power cores, then you will easily make it to the scarb without the light finding you, so long as you go the opposite way it is searching. When you arrive at the locust bunker all 4 down on the opposite side to the scarab. But it is important that you bunker them in a line going around the scarab, and not away from the scarab. This is because the search light finds an enemy and has to charge up. If they were in a line going away, it would destory all of them in one attack. But if they are in a line going around it, then it will have to changre up on each one, and this will buy you time.

 Step 4 - Repeat

 Once you have all 4 bunkerd down next to the scarb, go back to your base. Get another 3-4 and go again on the opther side. If you time it well and use a bit of Micro, then as soon as one gruop dies, youll have the second group attacking the other side. repeat this a few times and the scarb will eaily die. Youll also have plenty of time, dont worry about the scarab destorying your base.

Step 5- Victory dance!

 Parade around your room, cheering "Woooo! destoryed it, Yer, im sooo good"

 

Tips -

Use the heal power to repair turrets and units in your base for defense. Do not ever use it on the Cobras.

Always use Mac blast on the Scarab when ever you can.

Nice strategy, Cobras are the best unit to use against the Scarab bar none. However there is an easy way to keep them from being destroyed over and over. Simply build a Warthog and intentionally cross the beam of light with it. The Scarab will usually pause and track the Warthog and if you keep moving it back and forth it will never be able to get a lock and completely ignore your base and the Cobras. Another thing to do is fully upgrade your MAC to X4 shots if you can, it really helps.

Good tip. How ever, against legendary, the MAC blast might aswell be a pea shooter. It does next to nothing.

Also i've been 15/15 on Legendary for the past 2 1/2 days, no skulls or any thing of the like is needed. My strat for this scarab was simple. Build hogs, run them by the power cores and MAC blast them immediately. You will lose hogs but that's life. All cores will be down in very little time.

I trained scorpions at this point, while making sure my towers where upgraded for extra vehicle damage. Simple send them to the near right side of the scarab, use your Y ability and spank that scarab until the beam gets within a few yards of your nearest tank. Move your scorpions to the very top right indent in the cliff wall. Wait for it to pass and go back. If it's too close of a call move them in a line behind the nearest ancient building.  (this will take some unit control skill but is easily doable). Wait for the beam to pass by and run back in and nuke it down again.

This takes little time, and if done correctly will give you a gold medal on the Legendary difficulty.

I got gold on this mission, legendary and par time. It's by far my favourite mission. For one, you shouldn't upgrade the turrents to anti-vehicle, because the locusts will be toasted by the scorpion and the rhinos. You should instead upgrade them to anti-infantry as most of the hunters that come to your base are upgraded with assault beams.

And you can't expect to mac blast every single node, that would take far too long while waiting for it to charge. It would be better to use forge to take care of the easier nodes (Less than 2 squads of hunters) while mac blasting the harder nodes (The 2 at the left side of the map near the skull). Forge should have no problems with those only guarded by grunts, elites and jackals, and as for the hunters, just ram them. If forge's HP drops to less than half, retreat behind a nearby ruin out of range of the node defenders, then heal.

In using the above method, I destroyed all the nodes and cleared a path to the aclove (Sp?) at the top right hand corner of the map in around 13 minutes. You are right about using cobras, however, sacrificing them is not the way to go. Your combat bonus is going to be very low (5+) even if you only lose 4 units. What I do is build 10 cobras, wait for the beam to go to the left side of the map, then rush 6 into the aclove and 4 behind the mountain just below the aclove. Then I'll wait for the beam to come and go again then move my cobras out to the scarab, putting the first about 2 cobra worth of spaces away from the scarab. I will then deploy them up in 3 - 4 rows of 2 to 3 each facing the scarab and start blasting it. When the beam comes near I just move them back to their hiding places and then try again when the beam goes back (I only had to do this once).

And as for base defence, 2 rhinos, 2 squads of marines, 1 warthog, forge and a scorpion will not be able to defend the base against the final assault. I deployed 2 extra cobras to protection.

@ the guy who said use 4x mac blast, you obviously haven't played this mission yet, or you'll know that mac blast can't be upgraded in that mission.

@ the guy who said he used scorpions, cobras are better because they put out more overall damage than scorpions, are cheaper, use less population, and are smaller, meaning less pathfinding issues. Yes, I have tried using scorpions before and I only got a bronze.

i have 49/50 achievements :) and i completed legendary mode a long time ago :P
