    DLC question

i am sorry to the community and aloysius for doing this but theres been so much complaining about leaders, campaigns and units. u know for dlc and none of us really know anything. i'm not going to ask if u will be making any leader dlc and campaign but i'm wondering what u think the chances would be of giving this to the community and how many points u think it would cost us.i don't know about everybody else and i might get flamed by some people for this but i would definetly pay 1200 or 1600 ms for new leaders and a campaign suppose it were short and only 2 leaders. i know these things arn't easy to do but i would respect ur thoughts aloysius.oh and i've loved all ur dlc so far really nice job on reinforcements and thanks for working in a 3v3 map

    Re: DLC question

I know they said no flood...but i mean... who the f*** cares if Starcraft fans say "OMG OMG OMG Halo Wars copied Starcraft!!!".

I understand that they would never make such a big DLC, but if HW 2 ever comes out, i really do want the flood (they are my favourite faction after all). Flood would be an excellent addition as they would have a different play-style, not the usual make an army and kill you.

...Im probably saying this all for nothing...

    Re: DLC question

I don't get the reason why everyone would say that the flood is a copy of Starcraft, I mean having the three factions (1 human race, 1 an advanced alien race, and 1 animalistic race) never really was an original idea with starcraft anyway.

Look at the Aliens vs Predator series you have the Colonial Marines (your Terren / UNSC), you have the Predators ( your Protoss / Covenant) and you have the Aliens (your Zerg / Flood).

I don't debate the fact that the Flood would be hard to balance and work into the game as a playable faction, but people simply not wanting the Flood because they say it will make Halo Wars too much like Starcraft is beyond my comprehension. It has been done in movies and books long before starcraft was ever a twinkle in a developer's eye.

the flood will be way to over powering they can infect enermie marines and then they can use viechles so your leaving your oppement defenceless

Aloysius:If you think about it, Galactus is a giant purple alien who eats planets. Kind of like the Covenant.

It's official, straight from the mouth of an employee who works on Halo.

    The Covenant eat planets.

    Re: DLC question

This is what I would be up for in terms of a expansion (Im gonna list several things, they don't ALL have to be in there, but most.)

-introduction of a third race: The Flood, now bear in mind, I love Halo Wars as is, but I have been reading the Flood supporters who are wanting a true swarm army, much like the zerg from starcraft. The historical contribution that Starcraft has given the gaming community is that it has very good rendition of the classic archetype of Swarm, Average and Power armies in a game. So in that spirit i would like to see the addition of the Flood in game.

-new units and leaders, etc: with the addition of the flood, which would include its own leaders, powers, units etc. I also would like to see 1 or 2 new units per race, now i notice in most if not all the structures have an empty space in the top of the ring of 8, and i was thinking that could be used as a 'page' button, and you could add another page to the build queue for additional units, not necessarily just for this potential expansion, but for anything that you would need a new place to put stuff. However, I would like to see if there could be an 'experimental' unit, that you would only be allowed 1 of at a time, and they have tremendous time and build costs associated with it. this part is debateable, but i would like to see it, but i can understand if it would be game breaking.

-more maps, larger maps: for the most part self explainitory, but even the 3 v 3 maps seem a bit small and would like some bigger maps that you could really mix it up on, I'm sure there is a max map size that was built in for whatever reason, so again, i would like to see this if its workable.

-Forge like map editor, or maybe a full fledged editor: I would definately like to see some sort of map editor, even if its only forgelike in that fact that you can change existing maps and such and save copies. But truly I would love to be able to have a full fledged editor, where a person could use a blank slate 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 map or use a existing map as a template, and then you choose your terrain, use the terrian tools to make your hills, mountains, valleys and things, even time of day(Wanna play blood gulch at night?), then add side objects, crates, supply elevators, base plots, etc. and then you could save those and share them.

-More option control in game types and allow to save custom game types, again using the current gametypes as a template, you can change things like a no rush timer, where the units cant attack for some specified time, customize how many points of flag captures or claiming base plots, so you can make a Territories like game out of capping base plots. If you look in Halo 3, you can go into the settings menu and change around some options some cool, some just silly, but it allows players to come up with new games, like grif ball for example, was made based on the fact that Bungie had it set so that someone that has the objective object, Flag, Bomb, Territory etc has separate attributes then the rest of the players as long as you have possession, in the case of grifball, the bomb has an attribute to change the team color of who ever has it to yellow as well as changing damage control and things like that. I think the same thing could apply here, where we could have control over aspects of the game, adjust damage to leader powers to make them more powerful or less powerful or turn them off, change the time for research to be more or less, or certain items individually or turn them off entirely. etc.

Give us more control, so that WE the players can come up with our own game types and play around with the game on the inside. I've noticed that many of the greatest games are ones where the end users can contribute to the community, and allows us to save it and share it with the world.

-Make available the Flaming Warthog and Honor Guard Wraith decals for all: My reason is I don't like having exclusive content for certain people who met a certain criteria, if you buy the game, then you buy all of its content. If you want to reward prebuyers, that's fine, but let that content still come out after a certain time, so the prebuyers are enjoying it now and those that don't have to wait, but they will STILL get it. But please don't keep it away from those that didnt buy it early, there are several reasons why people couldnt buy it early. (btw, I do have the custom decals so, Im not adding this for myself.)

-Film and Replay saving: Allow us to be able to save the simulation data so we can use it for replays later, much like other RTS games like, Starcraft, SupCom, and even other type games like Halo 3, also have some sort of simple editor so we can cut clips out of the larger replays.

-Advanced Camera control: a toggle added to the options menu in game where you can turn it on, allowing camera options orbit cams, changing effects on screen, and things like that, so that the game could be used for machinima. I know this is a specific request and would only benefit a specific group of people. But I would like to see it if possible, combining this with the Replay and Film save option, machinima could be made.

Now like I said, I'm not saying that all of this has to be in the expansion but this is a good list to work on and look at and think hey some of this is good and we should use it. My ultimate goal with all of this, is listening to the community and trying to come up with something that helps make some of these people happy, which is what the game is for. Sure not everybody will be happy or satisfied but this first expansion is a good attempt at some of the more common suggestions that keep coming up.

     What say you?
