 Apparently it can only be done in deathmatch though..I'm unsure how that works.

you get it in deathmatch because wraiths are buffed in deathmatch to be equal to scopians. they get 2 extra stars.

Use the SEARCH BAR.  There was a much earlier Youtube video showing a 15 star wraith (yes, it was real, I counted the stars one by one) surviving 4 direct Mac blasts, and demolishing a full covie base in less than 7 mins.

Spartan 5 stars(it automatically gives an extra two stars I think) + wraith three stars + upgrades 6 stars=14 stars and forruners shield upgrade one star = 15 stars!

Forerunner stuff doesn't give stars.

I think it's really sad that people already have forgotten how to get stars.  Simply let the spartan manned (both should be fully upgraded) wraith slaought a huge army again and again.
