    Prices for addons.

    11.60$ for each one.

Am I the only one who thinks this is pretty steep?

I bought the new Strategic Options and felt ripped off. I was very excited until I saw no one was playing 2/3 of the game types.  Now the Historic Map Pack is out, 4 maps for 11.60$? I know Halo 3's Mythic only offered 3 for the same price but come on. If anyone that works for  Robot Entertainment reads this please consider lowering the price.

Now that Battlefield 1943 is out with the full game only costing 1200 MS points/ 17.40$ the bar has been set.  As it stands being a console RTS, Halo wars isnt exactly the most popular game, please dont deminish the fan base over something like this. 400 MS points is a pretty fair price for an update,  800 would be okay if there were new units and options combined with new maps.

Simply an opinion and hoping I'm not alone.

I didn't get the first DLC but I bought the maps. I felt like they were worth it, 200 points for a map seems pretty fair to me.

The maps are worth it, its people like you who add to people not buying the maps, therefore making it harder for everyone to play the new amazing additions to halo wars. we've waited 4-5 months just to see some new maps and now 90% of players arent buying them becuase they're either too stupid to know that theres new maps, or too stupid to buy them becuase of people like you.

200 points a map is definitely worth it, and reinforcements is worth it if you can get some friends together to play it.

    Re: Prices for addons.

I agree the new maps should probably have been 400 MS Points.

In an FPS, new maps offer new gameplay, new areas to explore, new things to do. In an RTS, a new map is mainly just a new environment. The same strategies will still work. You can still do everything you could do. New maps in an RTS have less opportunity than in an FPS.

    ???

New maps for RTSs alter gameplay dramatically. More so than a FPS.

Are you seriously telling me you do the same strategy on Crevice as you do on Docks? And your strategy changes depending on what your opponent does, and on the different hooks for each map.

    Re: Prices for addons.

I posted the idea earlier of selling maps individually for 200MS points each. There would be a more consistent flow of content and people would be able to choose the maps they want instead of feeling ripped off.

    Re: Prices for addons.

I agree. I was as reluctant to buy the strategic options DLC as the next person due to its ridiculous price. I'm of the school of thought that says if you pay AUD$100 for a game, and AUD$5-10/month to play it online, the publisher should throw you at least one free meaty bone as a reward.

But something I read here, not sure if it was from Robot or not, reminded me that if loyal customers further invested in this great game by buying the first DLC, surely that free bone would be coming our way with cheaper or even free maps. So I bought strategic options and played it about 3 times. And lo, the maps are the same price. That would have been fine if the first DLC was cheaper or free, but if there's going to be no give and take in this relationship with Microsoft, it's over.

But thanks for the initial honeymoon period! It was truly fun :)

    Signing off,

    Captain Blubeard

    Re: Prices for addons.

it's not too bad in the U.K. It's £6.03 - £6.67 (£15.85 - £17.50 for 2100 points).  $11.60 does seem too much. try looking on the internet for instant-access codes (they are e-mailed to you <2 seconds (seriously, i got 1  the day after the maps came out) and they  are much cheaper because you don't pay for postage & packaging)

Map packs are far too expensive - I bought 'Splosion man for the same price as one and last year i bought Castle crashers for 1.5 times the price.  If a full game can be sold for 800-1200 MSP for a profit, then why can't maps be sold for less? surely it cost more to make a full game than 3 maps.

    Re: Prices for addons.

the maps are priced liek any other DLC, but the first opne was not worth the money, they should either make those free or add tow new gametypes that are NOT tug-o-war and that tohe one that I cant even remember.

    Re: Prices for addons.

I think that it is way overpriced. They should have put strategic options AND the maps for 800 points..that, to me, would have been worth it. Or at least, like one person said, 200 points for a select map.  Honestly the maps are okay.....I really have no clue how they thought only 4 maps should be considered an RTS map pack. Maybe 4 maps for each( Four 1v1's, Four 2v2's, etc.) and then put it for 1200. *Sigh* I guess i need to get a fire extinguisher out because I think this will be flamed...

    Re: Prices for addons.

The maps are suprisingly good. The gametypes are also good, but I think both could be priced a little cheaper.
