No, but it does prevent you from rushing.

Normally I don't rush. Only when playing certain leaders.

I think it does, every game I play with covenant I go WH, Temple, WH, WH. You start getting resources early and by the time you're temple is built you can upgrade to Blessed WH and it's the fastest way to boost you're economy. I'm a Booster so if you do different tactics it might not be so good.

I suggest building your temple 2nd instead of 3rd, unless you're playing a team game in which case you won't get rushed in that amount of time.
