So, I played a 3v3 game on Frozen Valley with a few friends. I ususally play as Cutter, and by the 6:00 mark, I have about 7 gunner hogs, 10 or so Marines, and about 7-8 Flamers. I sent th 7 Hogs to his base to scout him out, and I saw that he had his T2 Arby, 10 or so Jackals and 10 or so Hunter Pairs. After the usual amount of cursing (OMG WTF I GUNNA B SKREWWWED!!!), I start prepping for him. I had just started to get some buildings on my 2nd Base when the Arbiter shows up with a full force of T3 Jackals and T3 Hunters.
He subsequently begins trashing my 2nd Base. At this point, I only had about 3 Hogs and my Infantry. So I sent in the Marines. The guy was microing like freaking JESUS. I say that because I D-Bombed the Arby, so he could micro his units. My micro was not so good, as I wasted all my flashbangs on a single Jackal (felt like a fine gentlman.) I sent the Marines for the Hunters, and the Flamers for the Jackals, reasoning, that, once the Jackholes were gone, I'd just wipe his army out.
And, actually, the Flamers outperformed the Jackals! My Oxide Tank Flamers vs his Beam rifle Jackals = Flamers Win! I couldn't believe it. I outnumbered him by about 3-4 Flamers, and the battle was utter Chaos, but I emerged the Victor. The Marines didn't play much of role in killing the Jackals, as they were taking down the Hunters. We then torched the Arby, and I counterattacked and converted his base to dust. The other 2 just quit.
My point is that, I would rather have 20 Oxide tank Flamers than 20 Supreme Gauntlet Jackals to defend my base from an infantry attack.
If cutter spams ODST's, I would MUCH rather have the Flamers.
EDIT: They were Supreme Gauntlet Jackals, not Beam Rifle.
