Scarab Rush, Viable 2v2 Strat?

    Scarab Rush, Viable 2v2 Strat?

    I was wondering if I could get some advice on whether this seems like a viable option for a serious 2v2 strategy or not.

     

    2v2

    Me; Prophet

    Partner; Forge

     

    Build order for me is Temple, SP, SP, SP, SP, upgrade base, Shield, SP.

    Build order for forge player is full HSP with 4 turrets.

     

    Basically, I just collect with my ghost/prophet until I have full SP cued up on the orignal small base, than upgrade to blessed immolation.

    Next focus on all the SP getting upgraded to blessed.

    Once I get full HSP (Blessed Warehouse) I upgrade the base and cue up a shield gen and air pad.

    as soon as my scarabs cooking, I research the first upgrade for engineers as well as prophet upgrades.


    Once the forge player gets full HSP/4 Turrets cued up, he begins sending me all excess supplies he can generate.

     

    With bonus reactors on the map, This can produce a engineer escorted scarab (As well as a maxed prohpet) in under 8 minutes.

    Without them, more likely to be 9-9:30

     

    Any suggestions to better this?
    It's been pretty sucessful thus far. The only thing we've ever really lost to was a hard guass spam from 2 anders around 7 minutes.

    You can't base a Strategy around Late game.. You must win the Early game to even think of it.

    It would get wrecked by early hogs and arby.

    try it with arby

    have a smarter forge (he builds 3 straight off and then sends you a care package for every other pad he builds).  He should not start off strong, resources are more valuable the earlier you get them. he should barely keep a pad building at all times.  He can build two opposing turrets at 3 or 4 min and more at 5.

    don't bother with engies, once you queue the scarab, forge will sack a pad, build a reactor, and build cyclopses (and research the med pack for them); this will allow forge to heal your scarab.  You will use the 120 secs of the scarab building to finish upping arby.

    forge will also use his hog to scout out resources(for you to then gather) and the enemy.  he will build four or five hogs and up them to gunner to lead your rush as decoys for the enemy to see first so that the scarab can draw a bead.

     

    Also, a summit is a good idea to build early (at 2:00--ie building #5) as a decoy to enemy scouting.  You can also build a couple banshees AFTER you queue the scarab in order to handle the pesky hunters and cobras.

    Recepe for disaster.  Really not sure what build times you are talking here...assuming at least 5-6 min before you get a scarab out...maybe with a hook reactor.  Still nobody good is going to let you sit there for 5-6 min.  Plus it is easily spotted with scouting...risky, but if it works it could be a fun way to win. 

    PS:  This is not a rush by a long shot.

    Forge needs to be sending you money as soon as he has his first SP up so you can get 6 blessed warehouses up asap. And remember if you leave your opponents alone for 6 minutes don't be suprised if there are spartaned tanks/cobras, a swarm of banshees/hornets or vultures at thier bases and they still have leader powers to take down your two unit army.

    It works best in 3v3.  Especially on Exile.  Both Forge players and you Arbiter; you build 6 BWH's and a temple.  Both Forges stack up on HSP's and start spamming you supplies.  If you're on exile, take the two reactors ASAP with your Arby and put people in it.  I've tried with two friends.  Shortest time on each map for beginning of Scarab creation was...

    Exile: 2:25

    Frozen Valley: 2:50

    Fort Deen: 3:10

    8 minutes? That would mean I easily have 6 canister tanks, which is enough to kill a scarab. Nevermind what my teammate has.

    You can get a scarab in 1v1 around 9 minutes if you grab majority of the crates around.

     

    T WH WH WH WH citadel WH SG

    Don't upgrade them then you will waste 1125 resources 

    Get two of your unique infantry and garrison them in the available reactors

     

    Use leader to protect vs silly early warthog rushes

    agree but i think the best way 2 rush is an elephant rush.Be captin cutter and make elephant then make as much SP as u want then park the elephant outside enemy base (but make sure they dont find it) then keep on pumping out mariens .NOTE u could build reactore and barics so u can build spartains and up grade while attacking.DEFO 1000 points if u do this .

    this is not a "recipe for disaster" what are u going 2 have in 5 mins a few tanks,whorthogs or hornets  not even upgraded and if the scarab gets into trouble u will have the arby (make sure if u try 2 do this be yhe arbiter and a forge or 2 forge if u do it in 3 V 3 k)

    This would never work in competitive play... because your opponents do not simply tech and boom and base build... they scout... and when they see forge with ONLY supply pads your game is over.

     Likewise, UNSC leader powers can really damage a scarab.

     Why pull all of your eggs in one basket (unit) when you could have 15 banshees/12 hornets/30 marines/grunts, etc etc etc. for that money (not counting the tech upgrades)...

    remember how good a fully upped arby is vs the scarab's counters, banshees also mix up your basket so to speak as I said in my post.

    Forge still can d-bomb and carpet to protect the scarab and it gets healed by cyclopses

    It worked in one of my games(the only time we have tried it online) except that my friend as arby had to leave right as we were tearing apart their bases (which = epic support forge loss)

    Its possible, just make sure you get all the extra reactors. But is fiften minutes past, then you will be raped with no defences. heres a link to when I build a scarab in less than fiften mins and raped. check out the stats, I am champ5.
