Spartans: Super Soldiers, capable of eradicating almost every threat threw against them... Are they?

In terms of video games; there are few (if none) like the Spartan fighting force... so are the Spartans THE most elite fighting force in history? (Especially in-terms of surviving, being the most realistic, considering most video game 'heroes' have nothing genetically enhanced about them, although Spartans are trained super soldiers, thus giving them a higher defence and fighting skill).

So, are Spartans the true ultimate fighting force in video game history?  

Well, in my mind, Spartans are THE badass force. They own everything in sight, and do it in style. I would liken them to the ARC Troopers in Star Wars. Both are seriously awesome.

That 'single battle' was with 20 Spartans against over 1000 Covie troops, artilllery a warship and plus a dozen more warships in orbit full of dropships and more Covie troops.

Lets see...Kelly, Fred and Will are the last Spartans of that battle. But then you have Linda, who was on the PoA in cyro during Halo 1, John, the Master Chief and Kurt, CO of Onyx and the Spartan IIIs.

best video game fighting force is the USNC Spartans and in close second is Ghost Squad from Ghost Recon

if your talking about reach, lets see you take on a VASTLY superior army and survive. specifically one that can wipe out the planet at any given time. their kill to death ratio would look something like this 10000:1. just because they got wiped out in one of the LARGEST battles of the entire war, doesnt mean that they are not worthy of the title supreme badasses.

also keep in mind that they are usualy taking on an enemy force 100+ times their size, alone. AND they tipically win. the spartans have been in the war since 2525, more or less. so 10 of them dieing in a single battle in 2552.... not so bad.

Spartans are most likely the most badass soldiers ever. I mean, i have never read the books but there manuvarability when fighting off the group of like 20 Elites was great. Ecspecialy when the one spartan jumped up, barrel rolled and shot the Elite picking him up spinning around and blocking an attack with his body. NEVER seen anyone else do that.

From talk following the massive battle concerning roughly 20 Spartans vs. A hell-load of Covenent, reminds me of the 'True' Spartans (As featured in the movie: 300, in which case is practically the same scenario).

The cutscene at the beggining of mission 15 truly showed us how kick ass Spartans were in groups.
