    Stars Above Units

Hey I apologize if someone else has posted this.

Anyone know the exact meaning of the stars above a unit's head?  I know you get them with experience but has anyone tested if it gives any benefits.  Also does it show to your opponents?  If it only denotes combat experience then it really doesn't matter.

Also an observation.  When you commadeer a vehicle that has stars with a spartan that has stars the stars add on the right side of the icon above the vehicle.

    Re: Stars Above Units

I believe that it increases their armor. If you look at the unit picture in the bottom of the screen you can see a little shield, and as the units number of stars go up so does that little number on the shield. A unit also has a maximum star count of 3 and the most armor I've seen is 12 on an upgraded level 3 cobra with a level 3 spartan inside of it.

Does anyone else have any theories about this? I like how in command and conquer once a unit reaches level 3 veterancy they not only get new animations (such as blue lasers on venoms instead of red) but they also regenerate health. Level 3 mammoth tanks kick butt!

    Re: Stars Above Units

i beleive it has more of a LOTR BFME2 kindof feel to it. units that take place in battle and survive with some kills level up by stars, in LOTR the max level was 5 and became a larger star, in Halo wars ive seen regular units at 3, and a spartan in a vehicle at 12 which like previously mentioned i beleive to be the maximum levels.

As for their effect i definately beleive it increases a units attack and defense, as for their movement and attack speed its a possibility but i havnt noticed any difference and doubt it.

    if this diddnt help sry

    Re: Stars Above Units

I guess no one knows exactly what it is. The word "tougher" is pretty vague.

I guess we're just going to assume it's a stat bonus based on combat experience until someone has specifics.

if you fail to interpret the defenition of the word 'tougher' than i suggest that you revise for grade 1 english vocabulary.

they are physicaly strounger, a more impenatrable defence and decreasing the damage taken.

there are small attack bounses increasing the damage delt to enemies.

is that to vague for you, or is that to advanced for you, do i have to read it out for you.

    Re: Stars Above Units

Typically on games where the smallest thing can make a difference, people like to know everything they can. Stars make units tougher, ok thanks, now how do we get them, how many of what needs to be killed, by how much do the stats increase?

In that sense, the word "Tougher" is vague. Also Mr. English, you mispelled "Bonuses" and misused the word "to".

haha beautiful, just for fun i wish you would have put a dictionary in the bottom since every word must need to be defined for clarity haha. to be even more specific each veterency level gained accrues roughly 15 percent increase in defensive and offensive stats. Its all already around and pretty well spelled out in the guide as well. It mentions about xp and xp needed through a rough guidline as the actual xp earned through killing any unit can vary from game to game. Also fyi, marines get a bonus to get veterency easier.....
