I am currently reading Halo: Fall of Reach. On page 230-231, it talks about the controversy, spartans, etc. When it mentions the clones, is it saying that the children were abducted at a very young age. <1yr, and replaced with genetically superior clones?

They were abducted at around the age of 6, and then replaced with flash clones. These flash clones would eventually die in a few months from genetic diseases. But, the parents would never suspect that they were not their actual children.
