My First Halo Story. (or a FF I suppose it's called...)

Ello guys, big fan of Halo and it's universe and I dunno I like to write or I like to make up stories...so I thought I would make a little story about what it would be like After the events of Halo 3....now just a warning, I'm not a big expert on the Halo universe, I do not have these long complicated names for elites or brutes nor have I read the books....but maybe I have enough to make a cool story

if this breaks Canon in anyway (sure hope it doesn't) let me know....but yeah just keep in mind I'm not a expert! here we go.

    Chapter One - Something Happens...

"Captain, wake up, something has happened" Serina said as Captain Cutter emerged from his cryo chamber. James grunted as he regained control of his limbs.

"Hate Cryo-sleep..." he mumbled as his joints protested as he stretched them out. "What happened Serina?.." he asked, clearing his throat and assuming his normal tone. "Covenant Forces?"

"No....come to the observation deck, and quickly" Serina responded. James started to briskly walk through the cramped hallways of Spirit of Fire, Serina started to talk to him again as he made his way. "I suggest we get Professor Anders here as well." She said with a hint of distaste. James opened the door to the deck.

"Deactivate Anders cryo-chamber Serina." he said and looked through the windows that showed nothing but blackness with little droplets of light that represented the mammoth-sized stars that populated space. a little out into the distance, a tiny pinpoint of light seemed to flicker on and off. James was intrigued as he stared at the thing drifting ever closer....then something struck him. "Serina....how long were we out for?" he inquired...Serina remained quiet. "Come on Serina, let's hear it" James persisted.

"Several years Captain." she responded. Before James could express his surprise, Anders appeared in the door. She nodded in greetings and winced as she placed her hand on her neck. Serina simple smiled at her. "Have a nice sleep?" she said mockingly. Anders simple glared at the AI and turned to the Captain

"So I hear somethings happened?" she questioned. James nodded.

"Well, Serina is about to fill us in....Serina?" he let the AI take the floor and appeared in the central hologram pad. an image of a small sphere with flashing lights appeared beside her.

"It seems we have stumbled across a beacon from the frigate Foward Unto Dawn." she said, the hologram flickered to a image of the battle frigate and the it's name flickered underneath it. "The beacon itself is badly damaged and could contain valuable information about what's going on." she continued.

Anders and James eyes lit up at the prospect of having a friendly contact in such a unknown location. Anders spoke up, "Can we get it in somehow?"

"Cranes from the Spirit of Fires loading bay have already brought it in and await activation...at your command Captain" she said directing it to Captain Cutter. James nodded and moments later, another figure appeared next to Serina, it was another frigate construct and begun to speak.

"This is Cortana, AI for the ship Pillar of Autunm, going out to any UNSC or friendly contacts, spartan-117 is alive and we are in desperate need of help"...

~End of Chapter One~, let me know what you think and hopefully its "decent" :O....your feedback depends on wether I continue or not :D

Chapter Two - Brace for Impact!

Cortana hummed to herself as the frigate drifted aimlessly through the black emptiness of space. She couldn't tell how long it's been since she and John destroyed the ark and the flood...she glanced over at the small cryo-chamber containing John. ice had taken over the inside of the glass obscuring the view of the imposing figure that laid dormant within it. Cortana shifted her gaze from the cryo-chamber and looked out towards the little opening that gave a very limited view of space. She really didn't understand herself. She was a system designed matinence and operation and yet...she could feel pain and emotions and act like the very people who created her...She recalled what she said to the Gravemind many years ago...

"A collection of lies...that's all I am....STOLEN thoughts and memories..."

Cortana shook her head in anger. Who's bright idea was give a machine life?!....before she could start another one of her many rants she had over the months, was cut short by a very ominous object that seemed to eclispe her view of space...Then it hit her...Panic seized her as the horrible realization began to take full effect. She begun to run processes and protocols at unimaginable speeds. No landing gear, no ships, not even a parachute! This isn't going to be pretty! the ship began to shutter and the objects that used to drift aimlessly in the hull began to hit the floor with a clatter. The whole ship was rocking now and bits of stray metal began to break off only to melt seconds later. She whipped her head around to the Cryo chamber. She placed her hand on the glass.

"Brace for impact Chief." she said as the whole hull turned cherry red and fiery orange as it entered the atomsphere of a unknown planet.

~end Of Chapter Two~....Feedback is welcomed! Hope it's got you interested at least :D

    Chapter 3 - Let's have a little Chat.

All was quiet aboard the Covenant flag ship as it was speeding it's way back to it's home planet. All the crew was under statis for the long journey and all was peaceful...until a small purple light starting blinking softly on a particular pod. A small screen next to the pad had a small line flashing on and off.

statis.....deactivating...please wait. It showed, a hiss echoed throughout the chamber as the pods door was opened and air rushed in. The panel blinked to a new set of words: Revival process begining...small hooks gently pricked the figure and starting to pump a substance into him, a few moments later the figure fidgeted and opened his eyes...

Revival complete. The panel showed and it shut off. The elite that had been under statis rubbed his eyes and stepped out of his pod. he looked around at the other pods to see that no one else had been revived...

"Odd..." he muttered to himself. "the journey shouldn't be over for at least a few more months..." Just then a voice could be heard throughout the whole ship.

"Arbitier! come to the meeting room, we need to talk." the voice shouted and the system shut off.

"Mmmm...sounds serious for the shipmaster to be so worked up." the Arbiter spoke to himself as he made his way to the meeting room. The Arbiter reflected upon the past events and gave a sigh of relief. The Covenant is broken and peace reigns...it feels unreal...although I dunno if that's the last of it..The Arbiter's thoughts continued to drift to the many things he would do once back on his home planet. His thoughts were interrupted when he found himself standing at the door into the room. He simply walked into it and the door opened automatically, the shipmaster was sitting upon his command chair with one hand balled up into a fist leaning his head on it while the other was tapping the arm of the chair. The Shipmaster assumed a more formal posture when he walked in. "Shipmaster....is anything wrong?". The Arbiter began but the Shipmaster raised his hand for silence.

"All is fine...for now Arbiter, but we need to talk about something important....do you remember the studies we did on humanity before the war?" The Arbiter thought back to the many days of being under camo studying the ways of humans....a few times the odd person would discover there scout ships...They had to abduct them and silence them...they were good test subjects, but they always would be uttering the same thing about U.F.O's or something.

"I remember." Arbiter replied. Shipmaster tapped a flashing pad on his chair and a hologram of earth appeared, slowly revolving. The names of each country could be seen as it revolved. Shipmaster hit another button and this time the earth rapidly revolved and highlighted Italy. The country was zoomed in showing it's geography and countless cities. From there, one city in particular was highlighted and it zoomed in on it again. Now the whole city was shown on a mini landscape and it's name was shown above the landscape..

    Vatican City. it read simply.

"Do you remember this?" Shipmaster questioned. Arbiter studied the area and nodded. It was the Capital city of a major human religion. The Arbiter was confused.

"Why show me this?" he questioned. Shipmaster responded by tapping another button. This time, a hologram of high charity was pictured. The Arbiter was getting annoyed now. "Tell me what your point is." he asked, letting his annoyance creep into his tone. The Shipmaster sighed.

"Arbiter...we destroyed our religious capital yes?" The Arbiter nodded. Shipmaster collected his thoughts..."If we were to destroy the humans religious capital during the war....would that of totally wiped out the humans?" The Arbiter shook his head and responded:

"That would probably of enraged the humans and make them that much harder to beat..."

"Precisely, now do you really think we have totally wiped out our enemies?". The Arbiter was begining to catch on to the Shipmasters point. Before the Arbiter could speak, the Shipmaster took over. "No." he said, answering his own question. "We crippled them, indeed we have, but they are not gone Arbiter....they are like a virus, we killed off the majority of the virus to render it harmless...but it will mutate and transform and come back stronger than ever...and there would be no...Halo ring to fire, there will be no flood to stint their growth..." The Arbiter cut him off.

"Impossible, theres no way they could come back with a force large enough to threaten humanity and the elites...they're just to badly broken." He retorted.

"Think back Arbiter....several years ago...do you remember the Dreadnought of ships that the prophets unveiled to finish the war?" The Shipmaster was leaning forward in his desk gazing at the hologram of High Charity

"True, but a UNSC ship was able to stop them before they could be brought into use...but I see your point...what do you suggest?" The Arbiter had taken a seat and leaned back fingers together awaiting his response.

"The war is over for the humans Arbiter, they deserve to have time to rebuild, but for the elites....we must finish off the hierarchs race and ensure permanent peace." The Shipmaster said, at this, the Arbiter took a deep breath.

"you do remember the last time in history the elites and prophets went to war it turned into a deadly stalemate yes?" The Arbiter said. "What's to stop it from happening again?" The Arbiter threw his hands in the air to articulate his point, but the Shipmaster walked over to him and put his hand on his shoulder.

"Do not worry Arbiter, I have a plan."

~End of Chapter 3~ Hope you liked it :D, it gives the story it's plot which I will work off of, please give your feedback, it is welcomed!

Chapter Four - Back in Action

Professor Anders groaned, being in Cryo for several years....her whole body was aching. A marine walked past moving his arms in little circles. The crew had recently been de-cryo'd and put on full alert. Ever since Captain Cutter had milked the message for information. He had been literally cooped up in his observation deck working on the cordinates..Anders remembered what he told her those few days ago.

"The cordinates point to a planet that may very well be able to support life, if Spirit of Fire is to survive...it's our best bet. The planet isn't to far away...we could get there in a few days in fact." and not another word was spoken.

Anders found herself standing in front of a empty cryo pod.

    J. Forge it read in simple bold letters. Her mood darkened at the sight.

He gave his life for us....we gotta make it back.... she thought to herself. But how?...

The hull of the ship moaned and creaked while the whole floor tilted to one side. Anders with a few marines stumbled as they lost their footing on the sleek metal floor. "what?" Anders said abruptly in a startled tone while keeping her balance at the same time. She jogged her way through the corridors and burst her way to the observation deck. Captain Cutter was muttering as he picked himself up from the floor. Anders looked out through the observation deck and found a sphere blocking most of her view.

"We've been caught in the planets gravity..." Serina said popping up. "we have about......30 minutes until we make contact with the atomosphere and hit terminal velocity."

"Is their any way of keeping this ship orbiting around the planet at least?" Cutter said stumbling again as the Hull made another, sharper shift.

"several years of drifting in space has depleted our fuel and seeing the lack of a FTL reactor....no possible way."  Serina responded. Cutter swore under his breath and closed his eyes. The cogs in his mind were whirling around at full speed. he remained like this for several minutes...as if to indicate Anders impatience, the Ship made another groan but this time a sharp screech of metal was heard, bits of the ship was starting to succumb to the gravitational force. At this, Cutter opened his eyes.

"What about the base deployment rocket pods? those must have fuel!" he practically shouted. Serina gave a smile.

"Indeed, those do have limited fuel but the fuel could be just enough to keep the Ship in orbit....although we won't be able to set up any new bases on this planet with our deployment pods fuel depleted." she said sounding optimistic but then breaking off at that last part. At this point the ship partically went a full ninty-degrees as the whole ship was speeding towards the planet....then it righted itself.

"Tell all available engineers to transfer that fuel to our main fuel tanks! Also, save one base deployment and launch it once we come into approriate range....and get our hell-jumpers ready, they will protect the base." Captain Cutter was rifling off orders at such a fast rate it was almost impossible for Anders to keep up with what he was saying. Then she just couldn't take it.

"what about me, Captain?" she broke in on Cutters stream of orders.....Cutter frowned in concentration but soon a little twinkle in his eyes and a smile played on his face.

"Your going down there as well Anders, we need a leader out on the field and with your ability to adapt and evolve will probably be our best bet in this one."

"Ok...but how do I get down there." Anders said already dreading the response.

"Time for you to become a Hell-Jumper!" he shouted with sort of a manaical joy. "Report to the hot drop bay and get in a pod!" Before Anders could express her protest Cutter began to push her out.

"WAIT! can't I just take a pelican!?" she shouted looking for a way out of not dropping. Serina gave her a triumphant smile like a kid who had something that another kid didn't.

"The Pelicans are currently....Out of Order" she said with a hint of a chuckle at the end of her sentence. Anders grew red in the face with anger.

"THAT IS SUCH BULL -" The moaning and groaning of the ship, now more like the screeching of breaking off metal drowned out her very colorful stream of insults and was hurried out and made her way to the drop bay. She was still fuming even when she made it to the drop-bay when a ODST trooper came up to her.

"Don't worry ma'am, the drops aren't so bad, besides your with proffessionals!" he added "Hell, you might even find it fun!". His grin quickly melted away when he was faced with Anders intimidating glare. "Uhh....." he was at a loss for words as Anders walked away and seated herself in one of the many seats in one of the drop tubes. Another ODST, sitting next to her cocked his shotgun and gave Anders a reassuring thumbs-up.

"Don't worry, you'll be fine." he said simple, Anders gave him the same glare..."ah, don't worry, everyone is scared the first time...it's something we all go through." Anders felt her cheeks go red as the ODST guessed her feelings. Underneath her seemingly angry expression was a turmoil of pure terror and chaos. She had always been afraid of heights....even looking down from the hill back home gave her the heebie jeebies.....and dropping down into a unknown planet literally miles above the planet.....well let's just say that's certainly a step up from the hill back home.

"ODST's are in the tubes. Anders on board" a ODST shouted into a telephone, the torrent of grinding metal had began to really take off, the ODST literally had to yell and held the phone so close that his knuckles turned white. . Another voice could barely be heard as it conveyed orders. He got off the phone and started yelling orders.  "OK GUYS! THIS IS IT! IT'S GOING TO START IN 10!"

Oh no....was Anders thought as it the do-or-die moment was only 10 seconds away. The ODST started to count down.

"9.....8.....7" Anders clenched her safety harness. "6....5....4...." a chant started to rise from all the ODST:

"U-N-S-C, O-D-S-T!!!!!" they bellowed yelling out each letter at a time.

3!....2!....1!.........HERE WE GO READY FOR ACTION he yelled as he unlatched a lever and the whole pod began to detach and make it's plummet to earth.

Oh Sh-!..Anders thought but that thought was quickly drowned out by her screaming as the drop took full effect and the Spirit of Fire executed was once again brought into action.

~End of Chapter 4~ Sorry guys, I know I haven't written much, but I hope you enjoyed this chapter...I hope you found it a little humorous (at least)

Chapter 5 - Scoping out the place.

The drop-pod hit the ground with a what seemed like a earth shattering boom! to Anders. She felt her whole body scrunch up and elongate again as she took in the impact.

"Ow...." she squeaked out. the ODST sitting next to her heard and looked over.

"Your Alive-!" he started but quickly realized what he just said and stopped himself. Despite Anders being a little shooken, she slowly turned a glare on the ODST trooper. Under Anders piercing gaze, the trooper started fumbling around with his words and couldn't seem to get a full sentence out. after what seemed like an eternity. The ODST collected himself and finally spoke understandably. "it's just that....ODST's go through tons of training for this kind of thing....it's not uncommon that we have some casualities dropping in from the atomosphere..." He said, visiably bracing for the storm to come.

Anders didn't say anything for a little while. Her mind was working itself into a blind rage, before it could explode into a very colorful stream of insults and sputterings, another ODST joined the duo, grunted at the pair and looked up.

"odd...." he started, "usually we drop from a much higher altitude...".

"what do you mean?" Anders snapped.

"I mean that you had no worries of dying over here because the drop wasn't potentially fatal...forgot to mention that eh Matt?"

"Well how was I supposed to know that Jack?" Matt countered. Jack threw his arms up into the air and articulated it with a loud "ugh".

"come on, the base is set up, let's get your girl-friend in there safe and sound." Jack said, turning around and making his way. Anders rolled her eye's and followed Jack. Matt was a little slow off the bat. within seconds, Matt found himself alone, his thoughts fumbling around with that last statement. Matt remembered, after some time, that he was supposed to escort Anders to the base...

"aw shoot..." he said looking around, Anders and Jack had gone off. as well as all the other ODST's that have dropped with him.while searching for everyone, Matt finally got a good look at his surroudings. The pod had caused a small indent and upturned soil in the ground, Matt also took note that he was in a small clearing, with trees and vegetation dominating the edges leading to God knows where.

where the heck do they intend to set up a base?... Matt thought as he looked around at the dense forests. Just then, Matt heard someone shouting behind him. he spun around to see another ODST calling to him. Matt jogged over to the figure, jumping over the upturned soil the pod had caused.

"are you coming or you just gonna stand here and droll all day?" he said lightly punching his shoulder.

"Heh, sorry couldn't find the base." he said apologetically.

"...it was right behind you all this time idiot" he said with a chuckle.

"Whatever...at least I've been able to gather important recon info" Matt said, holding the "I" sound to make it seem more important than it was.

"oh yeah? what have you gotten by scoping the place out?" The ODST challenged.

"well...we're in a clearing...it's got lots of trees and......your ugly." Matt finished his statement and ran off to join the others at the now upgraded station. The ODST just chuckled and jogged after him to get new orders on this alien planet.

~End of Chapter Five~ woohoo I'm back and writing more. Feedback is always welcomed!

Chapter Six: The Worst Plan in the World.

"This plan is nonsense!" the Arbiter said, his eyes drilling into the Shipmasters face "We do not need their Help!" he added. The Shipmaster sighed and put his hand on his shoulder

"Thel...please see reason, there's really no other way." The shipmaster pleaded.

"We do not need their help, they are worthless scum." Thel spat. He turned his back on him

"Would you rather we slaughter ourselves like before?" The Shipmaster said with some force in his voice "We cannot turn to the humans for help, they are too crippled by war to be of any help."

"I will never ally with the Brutes." Thel said keeping his back on him. "haven't you forgotten all the crimes they have done to us?" he practically shouted raising his fist. "it is unforgivable." he said with spite. "who's to say the Brutes won't betray us to the prophets?" he challenged. The shipmaster gently turned Thel so that he was facing him.

"Rtas...are you forgetting our allies from the great schism? Most of the Grunts and Jackals have sided with us during the civil war, even the hunters have sided with us. We have more then enough allies to take down the Prophets." Thel said gently, meeting Rtas' eyes. Rtas nodded, seeing Thel's point.

"Indeed, most of the Covenant's races have been fragmented by the civil war...although they still have grunts...they still have jackals and hunters...and for right now, ALL the Brutes back the Prophets." Rtas began, but Thel cut him off there

"Of course all the Brutes would back the Prophets...They are but a very simple race, easy to manipulate, easy to control." Thel snapped. Rtas sighed.

"Before the Brutes joined the Covenant do you know what had happened to them?" The Shipmaster questioned his voice soft. Thel continued to look him square in the eye but didn't answer, in all honesty, Thel didn't care for the Brutes at all, he wasn't interested in what they did. "They had a war." The Shipmaster answered. "and what do you need in a war?."

"Weapons, an army, supplies, tatics..one thing the brutes lack." he answered after a few seconds.

"Twelve armies, or tribes to be exact" The Shipmaster said. "They are a war-like race, bred for combat, so much, that they nearly destroyed themselves in a massive conflict among the tribes." This bit of info didn't surprise Thel, he felt a tad annoyed that they hadn't gone extinct in their war. "When they joined the covenant they were reduced to nothing more than primitive instinct, under the Covenant, the twelve tribes united and have been so ever since being led by one Brute Chieftain, it's really no wonder why the Brutes are so loyal to the Covenant when factor this into account."

"Why tell me this?" Thel questioned

"Because I've been listening, learning on this very subject and have come across what maybe the perfect opprotunity for us." The Shipmaster smilied "When the Prophet of Truth was killed, most of the brutes present there were the Brutes hierarchy as well."

"and they were consumed by the flood." Thel said with a smirk.

"Yes, when this event took place, the Brutes fell into Anarchy conflicting with eachother on what to do...this eventually led to fighting." The shipmaster took a breath. Thel tried to piece together what he was getting at.

"Your plan that you said was simply ally ourselves to the Brutes...why exactly?" Thel said.

"Because the conflict they are having right this moment concerns us very much...to be more precise the humans." The Shipmaster waited a few moments and continued "The Spartan...Master Chief I believe he's called...it seems a few tribes have taken a liking to him." The Shipmaster stopped to let that sink in. Now this was a surprise to Thel.  "

"How?" was the only word Thel could say after several minutes of silence.

"The Brutes hierarchy is a primitive set-up, basically, the strongest of the tribe is promoted to be the Chieftain. This Cheiftain is then expected to lead his tribe through great military exploits and victories...something that the Master Chief has done to a great extent. The Tribes wish to make this Master Chief their leader.." The Shipmaster explained. "Seeing as how we have worked closely to the Master Chief during the final phases of the war, the few tribes calling for Master Chief may not be to quick to make the elites into an enemy...in other words we may have be able to make them allies, and completely fragment the remaining Covenant forces and make this war quick, decisive, and bloodless." The Shipmaster finished and allowed Thel to gather his thoughts. Thel could see the logic behind the plan but there was one key element missing from this.

"The Master Chief is gone Shipmaster. He's dead." He said simply "there is no way the Brutes would agree to an alliance if the very string holding us together is already severed." Thel said with a sad undertone. what he heard next was a surprise. The Shipmastered chuckled to himself and sat down in his floating chair pressing a button.

"Thel...Please watch and listen closely." He said, leaning back in his chair. The message started to play at first Thel couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"This is Cortana, AI for the Pillar of Autunm, going out to any UNSC or friendly contacts out there. Spartan-117 is alive and we are in desperate need of help."...The Shipmaster had made his point and shut off the message.

"The Spartan is very much alive." The Shipmaster said. Thel was silent for a long time. his mind felt lighter after hearing that one sentence. He really couldn't explain how it felt..whatever it was it felt good. "So now we must find the Spartan and get him on board with the plan, but with these cordinates I have extracted from the beacon that we found, it shouldn't be difficult to find him"

"What did you do with the beacon after getting it?" Thel asked.

"I merely dropped it into space again. no sense in keeping it." The Shipmaster answered. Thel nodded his head at that and asked one final question.

"When should we be near the spartan's location?"

"get in the statis Thel, it will be a long trip." The Shipmaster responded.

~End of Chapter Six~ Hopefully you enjoyed it. Hopefully everything is all ship-shape for all of you out there...if theres any plot holes let me know. (like big obvious story breaking plot holes)

Chapter Seven: Execution of a Demon.

"Chief...?" Cortana whispered as his cryo chamber slowly deactiviated and opened up. John's vision was fuzzy as he came to his senses. He could hear a faint whirling noises along with a few clunking sounds. Cortana swore, "Your cryo door is jammed." she said with a hint of annoyance. John grunted in response and grabbed the almost-open cryo door and heaved. John heard the hinges of the door start to whine and break under the pressure, with a sharp ping! the door snapped off revealing John to the room. John slowly climbed out still feeling stiff and observed the room. bits of metal littered the floor while sections of the wall looked like they have been partially melted. the door John had ripped off was sitting in the corner. John turned his attention on cortana.

    "What happened?" He said.

"We were pulled in by a planets atomosphere..." She replied

John had to admit, that was kind of obvious..."do you know where we are?" He questioned. Cortana merely shook her head and visible stiffened.

"I think we have company Chief..." She cautioned. John strained to hear but the impact must of screwed his head up a bit because all he could hear was a low muttering coming from outside of the opening. John's adreneline spiked causing his stiffness to basically vanish. he crouched down and slowly walked over to the opening. the low muttering now was a very quiet stream of words in a unatuerally squeaky voice

"Me not dumb...me smart...why he hit me?" the voice said "Now me gotta check this....probably just wanna get rid of me he did." The voice was definitely getting louder now and John tensed up at the same time groping for a weapon...he's hand coming up empty John decided he would just engage him in hand to hand..

if I could just find a way to stun him...he should be easy to take out. John thought, and what better way was a good kick in between the knees? John got ready as the voice got even louder still. John held his breath and readied his leg.

"me has tired legs..." the voice said "at least I here."

At this John jumped out from his cover, the mysterious figure yelped in surprise as John Delievered his kick at full force into the unlucky guy.

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"   the figure said as he was launched. Not only was the figure surprised, but John was also. his would-be enemy had been a lot shorter than he calculated....also tons lighter. John looked on as the small guy landed several feet away..He realized that he just punted a grunt. despite the amusing action, John knew they were in trouble. He jumped back into the ship for cover and hurried over to Cortana, with no time to explain he yanked her and put her into his head.

"whoa what?" Cortana said as she came online in John.

"This is a covenant-controlled planet Cortana....I just punted a grunt" He whispered not wanting anyone to overhear them.

"You what?" she said confused but was stopped short as a deep gutteral voice was heard from their hiding place.

"Is he alright?" the voice demanded

"methane tanks are dead...he dead" a squeaky voice replied with a sob.

"Either man up or I'll throw you twice as far as he flew!" the voice thundered. "Now GO CHECK IT OUT!!" John dove for his cyro chamber and made himself as low as possible. He heard a small plop as the grunt landed inside and the small skitterings of his claws on the metal. The grunt was still sobbng at the loss of his friend and started looking around picking up various objects and quickly dropping them. John heard the grunt come close to the cryo chamber. He feared that the grunt would look inside the cryo chamber. The skittering faded away, John stifled a sigh of relief and moved his head right over the egde to see if the grunt was gone...

Only to look straight into the face of the grunt. the sudden head that appeared in front of him surprised him so much that the grunt jumped back a few feet only to realize just who he saw and start to freak out, running around the room running over jagged pieces of metal and bumping into walls. when the grunt found his way out he burst through yelling

"IT'S THE DEMON!!!!" He yelled while running, the brute leading the squad grabbed him by the head and brought him close.

"Calm down!" He shouted, dropping him. He shouldered his brute shot and growled into his wrist. "Enemy Contact in unidentified structure, requesting reinforcements to take into custody." The communication object frizzled back.

"why not just kill him?" it said.

"The prophets will want this one alive." he merely stated.

    "standby.." The voice said formally

Inside the Dawn John was debating what to do. He could burst through the opening and make a run for it. With only one grunt squad he could easily dodge his way past and into any of the planets vegetation that it had, but that would leave him weaponless.

"No sense in sitting here" he decided and got up, ready to run for cover. He got his first real look out of the opening and saw same trees...or what looked like to be trees at least, fortunatly they looked like they stretched on for a good distance. The perfect cover, John was all raring to go and would of sped out there quick as a flash had it not been for the brute that suddenly jumped into the opening, blocking it completely. The brute stared at John for a few seconds before realizing that it was, in fact, the demon. The brute growled raising his brute shot. instantly, John threw himself to the side as a one of the explosives whizzed past him exploding in a brilliant orange light.

The miss angered the brute, he then put the brute shot on his back and charged John pulling up a spiker intending to stab him with the deadly blades underneath it. John ducked, the brute wasn't too quick to react and bowled over Johns hunched self. The brute yelled as his face skitted across the floor being scractched by some sharp pieces of metal. At this, John took this as his opprotunity to run out the opening. Right as he jumped out, he sensed another brute right beside him and threw out a punch. his fist caught what felt like the brutes jaw. John looked and saw that the brute had been knocked out and had dropped a mauler that he no doubt been aiming at John with. He picked it up and look around for anymore enemies.

The coast seemed clear, but John wasn't taking any chances. He began to run to the forest until he was hit with a metal sphere right in the face. A split second after it happened, the sphere erupted into a brilliant white light. The flash had so surprised John that he stumbled to the ground only to feel a heavy weight on his back keeping him pinned down. He struggled against it but it held fast.

"Game over Demon." a voice above him said as he felt his arms being cuffed. The brute holding him down nodded to another brute holding a mauler. The brute responded by bringing his mauler down on the back of Johns headed. John saw stars as the mauler connected with his head. John's vision started to swim and then darken as he was knocked out.

"Chief!" was all he heard as he lost control over his body and succumbed to blackness.

~End of Chapter Seven~ Hope your liking it still!

    Chapter Eight: The REAL Execution.

John's vision slowly came back to him as he came to. he felt a gentle rocking back and forth and heavy breathing. It wasn't long until he realized he was actually being carried by the Brute that had knocked him out. The Brute spat.

"The Demon is heavy."  He grunted.

"You Weakling." Another Brute said right in front of the other. "We're almost at the city anyway."  he snarled, disgusted by his comrades complaint. John took this time to look at his surroundings while the pair started bickering. turning his head every so slightly, he looked to his sides to find a great plain that stretched for miles, John could just barely make out forests at the end of the plains. Must of been the forests he tried to hide into. He would of tried to observe his surrondings more, but the rough sound of foot on soil gave way to gently skittings and pings distracted him. John simply looked down to find, to his amazement, that the ground had given way to a clear metal surface. The Brute pair stopped suddenly, John looked up and saw an energy wall extending for what seemed to be forever. Quiet moaning suddenly pervaded his mind.

"Chief....are you okay?..." a voice said in his mind, John knew it was Cortana.

John made it clear in his head for Cortana to be silent. She understood and shushed. Just then the Brute in front pushed a panel and began to speak.

"We have the Demon in custody." He said into the intricate panel.

"Clearence please!" a grunt squeaked over. The brute growled in annoyance and began to speak a very gravelly and rough speech that John could not make sense of. The only words he understood were overlords and Captain. "your clear!" the grunt squeaked after he was done. and a section of the wall moved away to reveal a entrance. The Brute Pair started foward again and as soon as they made it inside a old and creaky voice echo'd...The voice made John want to punch a hole through a wall..

"My Children...The slayer of your brothers and sisters has come to justice..." the Voice began.

"ah crap." John mumbled. "I thought they were dead." The voice started up again.

"The demon, slayed our brethern by the thousands, and now he will feel their pain, ten-fold!"

"well he's enthusiastic." Cortana commented. John grunted in agreement and craned his neck to take a look at his surroundings. He seemed to be heading right into the heart of a metal metropolis, full of graceful, towering pillars of royal purple. Straining his eyes, John could just make out groups of brutes, grunts, drones, jackals, and races John didn't even recognise gathering on the many balconies of the sky-scrapers, obviously waiting for something.

"yeah my execution..." John thought annoyed at how he got caught so easily. Before John could go on, he heard a small warbling almost tingling sound. he turned his head slightly to find a bulbous, floating...thing gliding gently alongside him. John stared at what he thought the aliens eye was. The alien responded to his stare by basking him a green light. as the light touched him and encircled him, John could his whole body relax..The brutes carrying him suddenly stumbled as they took on the sudden extra weight. The front brute growled.

"Get that engineer out of here! he doesn't deserve it." He spoke furiously. The back one made what could only be an annoyed sigh and retorted.

"The healthier he is, the more pain he will feel during his execution." This statement reduced the front brute to angry grumbling, but that soon gave way to silence as they approached the gate into the central courtyard of the metropolis. The engineer that was healing John gave another warbling sound and put a tentacle on John almost as if to say. Good Luck! and floated away. The front gates creaked open and the unusual trio tentatively walked inside. once inside, John was quite frankly, speechless. A massive group of covenant races have assembled in the courtyard and went beserk when they saw John enter. John couldn't make out anything specific but he knew that they were jeering at him. On the egde of his vision John saw a small fuming sphere rapidly approach them from the crowd. The brute duo swiftly reacted by throwing John, and themselves out of the way of the sphere, now hitting the ground and exploding on the spot where they were.

John hit the ground hard, but didn't attempt to make a break for it, he knew it was useless. Although he heard a struggle in the crowd as guards detained the grunt who threw the grenade. The noise the whole crowd was making was almost unbearable, but then a voice cut through it all.

    "That is quite enough."

At that command, everyone in the courtyard became silent and looked towards a raised platform, even John. Sitting up there, was another prophet. He looked ancient to say the least. he face looked extremely gaunt and had very deep creases on his forehead, giving him the look of a bitter old man. At this point, the brute pair had recovered and dragged John up to the platform where he was face to face with the prophet. He's face was even more unpleasent up close to say the least...The prophet regarded him like he would a worm. "Hello Demon, I am the Prophet of Revelation." He said pleasently, knowing that insulting him wouldn't do him much good John took a different approach...

"so, are you the only prophet of this fiasco of a religion?" He questioned. The prophet cackled at that and patted him on the head all the while telling him.

"My dear heretic, the only fiasco there will be here today is the arguement of how you will cooked." at that, the brute pair chuckled to themselves but shuted up as soon as the prophet gave them a look. "Rack him up." he said roughly to the two brute guards. The two guards grabbed Johns hands, one to each hand, and put them in restraints. When he was racked up, the prophet chuckled to himself. "How does it feel, demon, to be restrained in the same way your Arbiter friend was so long ago?" John was done exchanging pleasentries with this idiot and remained silent. The prophet dropped his pleasent expression at Johns silence. "Carry on." He said.

the Prophet backed up to allow a brute in black armour to approach carrying a massive metal staff, energy lines snaked it's way all across the brutes staff, softly glowing a pale white light. The prophet took on an annoncing voice and addressed the group. "Demon...You are chared for mass-murder of the first degree, Obstruction of Justice, Heresy, and the destruction of Holy relics, how do you plead?" Before John could hopelessly argue this sham of a case the crowd roared.

    "GUILTY!"

At this response the Prophet Laughed. "So be it! Proceed" John rolled his eyes behind his visor. of course John turned his attention to the executioner.

"So I suppose your going to bat me around with that?" he questioned.

the executioner shrugged and tapped a button on the staff, a deadly  curved blade sprang forth from the top end of the staff, it glowed pure orange. Now the executioner spoke.

"Based upon pre-covenant technology, this high-powered tool has the ability to easily cut through any matieral and when it comes into contact with flesh, it will instantly caterize it, thus enabling survial during the execution process for maxium suffering." He spoke gleefully malicious.

"thanks for the infomercial Billy Mays.." John said with a twinge of sadness at Billy Mays fate.."actually no, you don't deserve to be called Billy Mays." The executioner had no idea what John was talking about and didn't care. He brought the scythe up ready to plunge it into his chest.

Well I guess this is it...time to go MIA. John thought, even though he had stared death in the face multiple times before and defied it, it looked like he wasn't making it out of this one.

"It was an Honor working with you." Cortana rang forlornly in his head.

~End of Chapter Eight~ I'm working on this slowly...Do not worry, I will finish this up eventually!

Chapter Nine: Execution of a Plan

John took one last glance around before the executioner did his work, two brute zealots have stationed themselves to the right and left of him, standing guard, one of the brutes tilted his head every so slightly to meet his gaze, and gently nodded. Not knowing how else to react, John nodded to him to and looked back on the executioner, and a little orange glowing ball rapidly approaching him from behind...

Before John could react, the ball embedded itself in the back of the executioners thigh with a sickening squealsh. The executioners face contorted into pain at the intruding object, only to be engulfed in a hail of lethal spikes moments later...

moments went by...everyone was to stunned to move, including John. As if on cue, a grunt shrieked and everything dissolved into chaos. John struggled against his bondage as everyone in the crowd started a mad dash for the execution platform, the bonds broke easier than he had anticipated, confused he looked to his sides to see each brute guard holding bits and pieces of his cuffs. Together they shouted.

"SAVE OUR CHIEFTAIN!" While bringing out tiny metal marbles that quickly expanded to the size of basketballs. They dropped them, the instant they touched the ground, brilliant white light erupted from both of them. Effectively blinding everyone in the vicinity.

John felt himself being picked up, he didn't bother fighting back, they may of been brutes, but if they were rescuing him, they must be friendly. As he was being carried, he felt violent jostles and shakings, the cacophany of voices aided by the sheer brightness of the flares that went off gave John a splitting headache. His headache was so bad that he felt like he would of blacked out.

    and he did.

wow what am I? a damsel in distress?...He thought as his consciousness faded away into oblivion.

~and CUT, chapter ain't done yet but it's a good start to it I feel.~
