You are correct.

The landing craft seen in the trailer appears to be the same landing craft found on the beach on the Relic multiplayer map. That, or an earlier variation thereof. 

Its belived to be an Albatross Landing Craft

Commando is correct the "Landing Craft" seen in the Halo Wars trailer are/is the Albatross.

The Albatross is the one in the trailer, and the Pelicans are the ones from the previous Halo games. 

My question is, are there any ships that are between these 2 types.   Perhaps a middle class landing craft that I am unaware of ?

i havent read the books but the pelican looks like a forward landing craft that can carry marines and an underslung warthog to the front.the way the albatross looked like it was a transport for rear areas. they have similar purposes but the pelican looks like a helicopter like role and the albatross looks like a tranport plane role.

Thats a good point.  If you have both front lines and rear transport vehicles there really is no need for a middle class.
