Ok well I noticed that most UNSC vehicles and some Covenant vehicles are named after an animal. Now why is that? Just wondering.

Its just because they needed a name for them, and animals were proberly the first thing that came to mind.

Ok, what would you name the vehicles? 

Well  most covenant vehicles are named after spiritual beings. Same could go for the UNSC and animals. Aside from that naming military vehicles after animals is very common  in today's militarys. Raptor, Hornet, Tomcat, Eagle, Leopard, Tiger, Scorpion tank (not halo), Panther, etc. All of those have been used in todays military. And thats not even half of the names i bet.

Naming the UNSC vehicles after animals is just a halo tradition I suppose...though i don't really like the name "grizzly"...i think they should've named it something to do with scorpions

 Well, technically these names are designations given to them by the UNSC.  I don't think I've seen the official covenant names for the vehicles to date.  Wouldn't understand them anyway as I don't speak Sangheilli or Unggoy or whatever.

 Well, they did kind of veer off a bit, but it's still a good designation.  The Vampire has the ability to "suck the life out of another vehicle" so it makes sense.  Plus, vampires are part of the undead/ghost/phantom folklore.

And as for the OP, the animal designation makes sense considering current military designations.  Even countries besides the U.S. often use animal-themed names.

Vampire makes sense to be honest... it is like a erry spiritual wierd thingy being :P and the Y ability is a drain life thing so it makes sense.
