Listen up, Rushing isn't a cheap tactic.

That's right noobs, it's something you get annoyed with because you don't know how to do it. I suggest you pin back your ears and listen to what experienced RTS players have to say.

I've only just started playing Halo Wars, my 3rd day today, and I can tell you all that rushing is what it all boils down to. I've just signed up and I'm tired of hearing guys moan about it so I think you should accept that this is the way the game was intended to be played. If you don't like fast paced games and like to sit around building *** and srying your nails then play Civilisation or something.

I've played a few RTS's in my time and, trust me on this, from Age of Empires through to Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds all had communities that whined about rushers and anything with strategic thought. Ironically they ended up playing noob like scenario type games and were unwilling to learn.

In closing I will say this - this game is really easy to play and I'd imagine that most people could pick up the basics within an hour or so. After a day you'll be fair and within a week you'll be half way decent. It's the easiest RTS I've come across by a country mile. OOOOOOOOOOO AAAAAHHHHRRR.

There's only one type of rushing that I consider 'cheap'.

Arbiter rushing with a team of Arbiters, and using rage the entire time.  Basically build WH,Temple,WH,WH,WH and rush the enemy.

No actual strategy involved, easy to pull off, but occationally can be countered either when the team of Arbiters are complete morons or when the other team is very good.

    Enjoy having a pair?
Don't complain about rushing and you'll continue.

The first thing you do in a match is to press Back and see what you're up against. If they have 3 arbiters, they're surley gonna rush. So you and your friends get Jackals and Flamers, and a UNSC saves up for a DB. When they come, you kill them, then attack their base.

Get flamers with flash bang, wahahhahahaha, btw i didnt kno if you pressed the back button it would show whos playing what. Normally i like to suprise myself when i scout LOL. If its a team of Arbiters, build turrets? SP Reactor FieldArmory SP Turrets and turret upgrades, not sure if that will work sicne i never been Arbiter rushed.

Re: Listen up, Rushing isn't a cheap tactic.

it is true Rushing isn't a cheap tactic mostly that is because most games such as age of empires, SWGB and starcraft have a complicated enough system to allow for multiple rush/counter rush strategies.... the ability to build buildings anywhere on the map was a huge contributor to this along with diversity within units. so if somebody say... trooper rushed you in SWGB then you could build strike mechs or other troopers or even towers...

but since there are only realy one (or very rarely two...) ways to stop a good halo wars rush. and to play the counter rush you need to play as a spesific leader and if you are anybody else then you are screwed. and realy the rushes are so fast that you basicly need your scout right ouside their base before the game starts to see if they are doing it or not and so you can forulate a counter fast enough to stop it.

but that's only half the problem... the worst part is that the best rushes online right now (brute rush... prophet rush... and warthog rush) were not invented by players.... they were invented by the AI!!!!!!!! (if you don't beleive me play skirmish on legenday against the brute 3-4 times) I cannot name any other game that is so simple and so easy that a pre progamed comupter can create a stratergy that no player online can beat without using another!  computer generated stratergy!!! and when everyone is using the same incredibly easy to learn and use stratergy (it's like *** RTS by numbers!, one cheiftan, one bute , two warehouse) that it all comes down to micro and because of the console you can't create custom groups or move across the map to select points quickly so micro is obslete(or it has a lot less effect than in pc games).... so then it comes down to conection!!!!!!!!!!!!!  yes! no micro... no stratergy... then an rts is a conetion! based game!   and to make things worse they add untis like the arbiter! who lags all over your screen and is imposible to target and he regens! whats worse is unit AI  in lag! I cannot count how many times my locusts/hogs will just sit there after I order them to move or attack repeditivly and geuss what! this never happens to me on host!!!!

ensemble you tried to make a game for console players and you succeeded...

now all the little fps kids have their "strategy"  game to play  and all us Pc RTSers are completly aleinated

    it comes down to this:

make a game that is easy to play then it will be easy to beat other people in it  and then skill drops and factors rise like luck connection and good old fashioned bullshit!

it happened to halo 3 and it happened to halo wars... in fact game after game theese days are just getting easyier and easyier and player skill is droping and droping....  soon things like complex stratergies and reactions will be a thing of the past.....

Are you seriously going to admit that you suck at this game, then bash it for being too simple?

I can't remember the last time I lost to a covenant rush.  I don't know what level you play at, but I noticed in the early 20's people start cutting that sh*t out and come up with real, innovative strategies.

Now why would they go and do that, when the covenant rushes are absolutely impossible to beat?  Something just doesn't add up.

    HEER HEER

that is exactly the reason I am reverting to empire:total war

hmm lovely strategy,no brute or arbiter rushes

in truth, the campaign was brilliant but multiplayer makes me snore because there is little difference match to match, also what is a warthog rush, warthogs are probably the weakest unit

Re: Listen up, Rushing isn't a cheap tactic.

I disagree.  Though there are fewer different units you can build, there are nearly infinitely many ways you can use them.  An example includes hawk horde vs hawk horde. Who wins?  The one who thinks (I said it-THINKS) to attack the other idiot's airpads and then attack his hawks.  I would call that at least some sort of strategy.

The Arbiter isn't lagging btw, that's called Rage and you have to control him when he's like that.

If you call people kids as an insult.....

    Don't forget me!
