    Ingame models in Trailer

Off-topic, nice forum you have going on here.

    On-topic, OMG... nice trailer Wink

And, i was wondering, in the FAQ you said how some of the models in the trailer were from in-game... does this mean the game is pretty far in development? (a year or so)

It sure was a surprise to see it looking so fine...

Honestly I thought I was seeing Halo 3 until all the Spartans turned up.

Well, if you wanna get technical, the Halo movie starts off as a flashback master chief was having of when he was one of many spartans. I basically juiced my pants when I heard about Halo Wars.  I'm glad it's gonna be 360 exclusive, cause that means theyll be working on the controls for the console alot more, and since its got the Halo name, it's gonna own.

    Re: Ingame models in Trailer

Apparently the trailer was pre-rendered, so I would assume that we won't be seeing that level of detail (especially from the marines/covenant) in the final game.

Please, please please prove me wrong...

    Re: Ingame models in Trailer

I think perhaps the Banshee models were based on the models they plan to use.  But there's no way that the character models will look or animate that well; probably in Halo 3 but not Halo Wars.  But I'd be very suprised if they weren't pretty damn good, just not as good as the jaw-dropping trailer models.  Either way, when you've got hundreds of units on the screen and you're fighting a bitter battle against (please please please) awesome AI (well it rocked in the Halo FPS series!) then you're not really going to notice that little flashlight on the side of one Marine's head or anything.

    Re: Ingame models in Trailer

I wouldn't imagine so as the MJOLNIR looks very similar to the CE armor and if this is pre-Covenant encounter they should be using the older versions. I just wonder if this'll be using The Fall of Reach for information (I sure hope so!).

I don't think that the ingame graphics will be quite up to the trailer (which rocked, by the way.) But here's hoping Ensemble and Bungie get the big 360 to really work some magic!

It is either a very early model with shields, or their old model without them. I imagine they'll have shields, though, since the elites have them.

By the way, do you think there will be space battles with ships at your command? There are quite a few significant space battles in the books, and it would be really cool to play.

but in the FAQ it says some of the models used in the trailer, and in-game models...so that means that some of the in-game graphics WILL be up to par with the trailer.

    Re: Ingame models in Trailer

When I first saw it I was like is this a trailer for the movie , then I was no can't be then I was like what is it, and then I remember ensamble studios makes rts games, so i was like oh ya this is going to be freakin sweet. I think the models they used that could be in game could be the vehicles. They might use the charecters for cinematics for he story line.

Hmm. Would be interesting to see how that works. Maybe Homeworld style game-play mechanics? Of course, I wouldn't want it added on purely for a bullet point on teh back of the box or anything; it would have to be properly intergrated. Still, would be very fun...

The MJOLNIR armor didn't get shields until they captured some Jackal shields so depending on exactly this is set, the armor wont have shields. I can't remember exactly when they got the upgraded but it some time into their encounter with the Covenant...but still, I don't know if this game is gonna follow the books (since they're cannon) and even then...it already doesn't fit in since they never encountered the Elites until just after Reach.

    Re: Ingame models in Trailer

Nothing will make me happier than being wrong about the graphics, believe me.

If they manage that level of detail consistently, it'll be the best looking RTS ever. Period. But, again, we're getting ahead of ourselves somewhat here. Suffice to say: I hope it looks like the trailer, but if it doesn't, it'll still rock. Hard. Smile

    Re: Ingame models in Trailer

One thing people aren't realizing is that models doesn't equal graphics. You could have two of the exact same model that look totatly different because of the texture they're using. Aswell models can be scaled up and down for gameplay versus cinematic. So they might have say a high res textures for cinemeatics and then lower res textures for gameplay. Aswell the lighting will probably be much less extensive in gameplay as compared to a prerendered cinematic. That being said the game will still probably have amazing graphics.
