    About the Flood

I was confused when seeing the flood in the trailer for halo wars and I thought that the first appearance of the flood occured during Halo Combat Evolved which took place 20 years after the Halo Wars event. Could someone clear this up for me?

    Re: About the Flood

On the contrary, five Spartans are present for this game, and we now from Halo: The Fall of Reach that only four have died prior to the Battle of Reach (which takes place right before Halo: Combat Evolved). We know from Halo: The Fall of Reach, as well, that one of those four is Sam in 2525 over Chi Ceti IV, so we know that he isn't among the five on Harvest. We then know from Halo: Ghosts of Onyx that another of those four is Shiela, who died in 2544 over Miridem, so she wasn't part of the five. And we also know from Halo: Ghosts of Onyx that Kurt was actually kidnapped in 2531 in the Groombridge 34 System near a decomissioned refit station, so he isn't among the five either. We also know from Halo: Ghosts of Onyx that the fourth Spartan, Randall, is actually MIA, and that he died under mysterious circumstances. So he might be among the five, but it isn't very likely. So, we know that at the very least, four Spartans survive Reach, and if we were to assume that three of those Spartans were Grey Team and never worked with other Spartans again, that means one still gets back to the rest of the Spartans and, at the very least, tells John about this no xenomorphic alien that could very well threaten the universe at large. And, from there, John arrives at Installation 04 and is not entirely surprised by the Flood. Oh wait, that didn't happen. Sorry, I forgot, Halo Wars threw out canon so they could provide a "full Halo experience." The game, as an RTS on console, is amazing. As a Halo game, it is clear ES didn't know anything about the universe, and didn't spend much time or effort on getting it right. So yes, the Flood are in campaign, and no, it doesn't make any sense. If the five Spartans so much as hear about the Flood at some point in campaign, Halo Wars falls out of canon. But, judging from quotes on the new official Halo Wars site, I'm guessing that they'll probably just kill two or possibly more Spartans and fall out of much more definitive canon instead. I mean, heck, they already gave Spartans shields 21 years before they existed. Even says it in the game manual. Spartans have shields, and that is just the start of the crumbling of the continuity that made Halo such a fun story to follow.

Yea about the Spartan having shields.... Those are extra "health bars" lol. But yea, I see where you're coming from, but you should probably play through the campaign before you officially decide that all of it is against the Halo cannon. If their are things in the game that clearly are against it, then you should say this. We know nothing about how the Flood fits into the Halo Wars campaign and we know nothing besides the cinematic trailer that showed the SOF flying into a Forerunner planet, which is where the Flood could be.

um, i dont think i have ever heard such a load of nonsense, the Forerunner's did not make the flood, i am not sure by what you where talking about with the mjolnir armour, but i think yor are referring to the moment where the monitor of Installation 04 tells you about the Forerunners had a classification system for combat skins, running from Class 1 to 18, and possibly above. According to 343 Guilty Spark, the Human MJOLNIR Mk.V Battle armour is ranked on this scale as Class 2. ne also suggests that Master Chief upgrade to at least a Class 12 Combat Skin.

Which is why I think the Flood and the Spartans should not met in this game, under ANY circumstances.

The only way they can canonical justify having them both is the Spartans are called to another battle, while the Spirit of Fire goes to a Flood infected planet.

    Re: About the Flood

Andrizzle, the game manual specifically states that the Spartans have shields. The whole "regenerating armor that happens to make shield noises" argument isn't going to work anymore. And haloharvest...did you even bother to read my post? The Flood existed long before either the UNSC or Covenant, but they were locked away in the Array Installations. And there are no classes of MJOLNIR armor. There is Mk.IV (no shields; 2525-2552), Mk.V (shields, 2552), and Mk.VI (improved shields, 2552-2553). The monitor's comment about combat skins was just saying that, on a scale of 1 to 20, taking into account Forerunner armor statistics, MJOLNIR armor rated a 2.

    Multiplayer does not equal canon....geez

wait until something in the campaign is wrong and then talk about how its not canon, because im sure the campaign will have a good explanation for it all

    Re: About the Flood

Ah, I see you failed to read my posts or have a working knowledge of the game. Well, I've got bad news for you. The Flood, ya, they're in the campaign. In fact, their presence in campaign is much greater than in skirmish. Also, shields, Spartan lasers, Spartans that can jump 50 feet in the air, and hovering Banshees, ya, that's all in campaign too. ES didn't make any distinctions between Skirmish and Campaign, except maybe with the leaders (but even this very well may not be changed). So all the crap in skirmish that screws with the timeline, that'll be in campaign too. And that isn't to mention that skirmish isn't automatically not canon. Skirmish is exempt from timeline canon, not basic canon. That is to say, how things work, like Spartans jumping 50 feet into the air or Banshees somehow hovering, that stuff breaks canon no matter where it is. Skirmish is only exempt from timeline canon because skirmish is not set within a timeline.

    Re: About the Flood

    @Rot

I didn't see in field manual about spartans having shields.  I know someone will getr mad at me for saying this, but ES has stated that the spartans have regenerating health bars.  I know, they sound like shields, and i find that a little wierd...

and i thought only 3 died prior to fall of reach?

    Re: About the Flood

Umm i know the flood are in campaign, but you cant say it screws with canon until its explained.

There is a ton of different things that could happen that would cause them to remain unknown

Shields are most likely for gameplay reason, they already stated the spatans jumping in the air is to make it stand out

I think nobody can complain about canon until they actually play the ENTIRE campaign
