    Why

    As much as a love the halo wars demo and how excited i am about the real game

     

    Why would they downgrade everything so much from 2007?

    I think if they kept it as complex as it looked in the 2007 video it would make the game very difficult to manage with a 360 controller. ES wanted to make the game very user friendly and easy for people new to RTS. I think they made the best game possible, given the limitations they had with the 360.
    Everyone knows a drunk driver is dangerous... but so is a drunk backseat driver, if he's persuasive.

    the demonstration of the game usally has the same graphics and what not just a few limitations, for example you can only be one leader of eath fraction. Most people say its like that and it will stay like that

    but by all means i hope to god it is just demo and everything will be crazy good march 3rd

    The actual game will be much like the demo. It will NOT go back to the way it was in 2007. 
    I survived the flame wars, I survived the newb flood, and now they expect me to start all over just because they added in some stupid live crap? no, I used to go by Dark Medicant Bias but they took it all away. And now, its their turn to try to survive...

    the reason for the downgrade in graphics in halo wars, from halo 3, is for one simple thing. The scale. The texture maping for a large object is easy to make, as opposed to a small one. Even if the made the little soldiers look awesome, the game would lag alot, considering it has to load so many objects.

    Yeah, it kinda is. The game went gold before the demo came out. They wouldn't finish the game, then release a demo that isn't a direct extract from the final product.

    it's a demo you have to backtrack to what market ES are aiming for to really understand why they have made everything simple.

    it simply because they are aiming their RTS at a FPS  market section because halo has been FPS before they have to make everything simpe and easy so that people who are used to 15 minute fights in a FPS do not get bored of the RTS.

    I actually came here and signed up for an account just to talk about this same thing. I played the demo a few times, and while I had fun with it and everything, I started wondering why the game seemed so different from the E3 2007 video. What happened to incorporating that human element to the bases that they seemed to push forward so much in 2007? None of that is there anymore. The interface from the 2007 video seems so much nicer as well. The paintbrush tool looked great, whereas now it just looks like a boring circle.

    Don't get me wrong. The gameplay and controls are awesome considering it's a console RTS. I'm just disappointed in the loss of detail that I had been looking forward to this whole time.

    The E3 2007 video was nearly TWO years ago.  Many things have changed since then.

    The Firebase stops spamming of supply pads and forces you to make decisions about your base, but it is easy to use.

    for example, they could have the firebase system but with those construction pods a little bit farther away. Like in battle for middle earth, those bases looked good while having the same system.
