Online content... the secret to replayabilty

I believe that if they want this game to be as successful (or even more) than other RTS games they will need an extensive library of downloadable items available for download that wont break the bank... For example, new maps (gotta love 'em) and extended campaign missions (side missions, different point of view (covenant, flood, rebels, etc.), etc.) this way, the game will continue to be played...

    Possibly even make it online?

I thought that was a given... most RTS games now are online... even on the 360... just look at LOTR BFME II...

One of the best features for replayability is unlockables, though i dont think it could work in an RTS. Another option is mod-making (ie. Warcraft III is still extremely popular after all this time).

I think mod making should open up instead of a company making the add ons. It's far more creative and diverse.

I'm pretty sure that DLC via the marketplace will add replayability as well once the game has been out for a while.

Maps should be free.  I've not come across any respectable RTS game that has made users pay for new maps, or even new content.
I wouldn't mind paying for a proper expansion pack through the Marketplace, but extra content has always been and shoudl always be free on RTSs.

times are changing, better to realize that sooner or later. and BRME2 just released 2 map packs, one was free, one was not.
