[FF] The untold stories of the 504th Infantry Division

Now peeps! this... is my third FF, not about ODSTs, but marines! happy now? Let the flaming of my story begin after it is finished!

    CHAPTER ONE

    Captain Warner

It was a bright, sunny day as always, in Old Mombasssa. Shiela Warner, and her fellow marines from the 504th Infantry were on their way across the Mombassa bridge in pelican G-44. They had a few scorpions, followed by squads of marines, and warthogs. Corporal O'Dwyer pulled out his SAM launcher, and slung his assault rifle MA5C on his back. Staff Sergeant Riley gabbed his Sniper Rifle, as did Lietenant Davis. That usually ment, "We got your back." She nodded respectfully at the three marines.

"Alright Captain we're just about at the LZ," Shouted Tech Sergeant Youngs. Captain Warner told him to tell the other seven pelicans to move on forward. "Yes ma'am!"

"O'Dwyer, Riley, Davis, you take point, then once we get to that bell tower, I want everyone else to keep moving, we'll meet up with the others later!" She yelled over the pelicans loud thrusters. The marines all acknowleged the orders given. So they moved out. Eventually O'Dwyers team reached the broken bell tower, and Warner met up with another squad, then another about three meters distance. they found some hills with enough shrub to hide a civilian with only regular clothes on! They looked out on the city. a train had fallen off its tracks, and multiple buildings had been either demolished, or burned. There were five active chopper squads, and an AA battery.

"That thing could take on our pelicans any day, cap! what do we do now?" Asked Lieutenant Joshua. Just then what he said could happen, did. Pelican F-86, was about to drop an ODST strike team to clear an LZ, when the AA battery spotted them! It fired at them, ripping the pelican in half. Bodies flew in the air. the pelican changed inta a ball af fireworks. Captain Warner had never seen anything like it. She looked at her squads faces. They were all in shock. Then Longsword bomber squadron eight six two dropped into strifing position. The AA gun blasted them to hell. All of them but one. Warner new that longsword! Captain Chavez! He was the leader of the famous recon 42. She could tell since the longsword had been modified. It turned on its Combat covering panels, only used when in a situation like fighting off an AA battery. It manuevered towards where the power core is placed. The longsword revealed itself to launch archer missles at it. The AA blew itself to peices. Then Chavez took out the remaining banshee straglers.

"Now how do you like your covenant in the morning ma'am?"

     Chapter two- East African Collision

Captain Warner’s company returned to UNSC frigate The Great White after three long days. They had suffered many casualties. The dead marines were to be replaced as soon as the frigate returned to base with the 504th. They reached a large city and the ship landed in a giant space inside a desert that bordered the city. Captain Warner then saw forunner constructs. The frigate opened its bottom section letting the marines and what remained of their convoy roll out to the city. A gate closed in front of them and a guard appeared behind it.

“Name, section, service tag.” Asked the guard to Captain Warner. She told him,

“Sheila Warner, UNSC 504th Infantry Division, 55609-74100SW.” The gate opened and the marines marched in bloody, and bruised. Warthogs and mongooses rode in through the dirt road on the side. Warner signaled her troops to fall out to the barracks and ready themselves. She continued on into a UNSC command center, walking tall and proud. She saw several techs, Intel marines armed with only pistols, and high ranking elites and UNSC personnel. The only people that had more than a pistol, or combat knife were the marine guards, and every elite in the room, with the exception of the famous Arbiter, and Rtas’ Vadumee’. A lieutenant Elliot greeted Captain Warner and led her to Admiral Terrance Hood.

“It’s good to see you again captain,” He said to her in a cold voice. His tone almost made her feel something was going to happen… Something bad. “We’ve just lost connection with Commander Keyes at an underground East African Base called ‘Crow’s Nest’. Once you have your new troops, I want your company to get some air support over there, as well as some ground troops to take out covenant attackers.” He continued.

“You’re sending us on a suicide mission sir? With all due respect Admiral, don’t you think we should have some Fleet support?” She said in reply to his orders.

“I only have a handful of ships; I believe your Company can pull it off ma’am!” He said impatiently. She nodded her head, turned, and walked out of the building to the recruiting center. She looked at the Lieutenant guarding the building and he looked back, stepping towards her. He pulled out a clipboard from his supply package.

“Ma’am? Lord Hood needed me to give you this troop roll-call sheet for you to gather up your new soldiers.” He stated. She stared at him for a moment, and then took the clipboard.

“Tell him, much appreciated Lieutenant Smith.” She said, smiling. The lieutenant made a face.

“How did she know my name without my name patch?” The lieutenant wondered to himself. She kept walking to a larger building with a courtyard behind it. She had on her marine combat uniform. It was covered in dirt and blood. Most of it from her other marines. She opened the door to the recruitment center, only to see more guards. A lieutenant Commander looked at her and pointed her towards the back exit that led her to the courtyard. She saw approximately one hundred fifty marine special operations (not ODSTs!) doing pushups, pull-ups, and field training exercises. A drill sergeant finally noticed her and said,

“You Cap’m Warnah’?” She nodded her head. “Marines! Fall in! Your new CO, Captain Warnah’ is here! She will be speakin’ to ya!” He shouted to the marines on the field. They assembled into a perfect square. She cleared her throat,

“Today… The training will stop, and you will experience real combat situations. Now as much as I’m sure Sergeant Harley has trained you very well, we are dealing with the covenant, and they are strong, and difficult to kill enemies… Under my command, you are not to get cocky! That will most likely be your cause of death, I’m sure! Time for roll-call now.” Captain Warner called all the names on her sheets of paper that Lieutenant Smith had given her. The people she called followed her out of the courtyard and into the barracks. They grabbed their reserved gear and followed the other marines into the pelicans. There would be no sleep for the next two weeks, unless they got lucky.

Lieutenant Nelson, and Company Sergeant Collins both felt that they were going for a suicide mission… they could tell by the expression on Captain Sheila Warner’s face. They looked at each other and prayed for their lives………… Two hours later, the pelican landed in a desert terrain, live the one that bordered the UNSC base they had just been. Marines piled out of the drop ships, and waited for the vehicles to arrive. Once they did, the troops found a seat in any vehicle that had an open spot. The convoy moved along, while more pelicans arrived with hornets, not everyone was able to cram on them, which was of course, part of the plan Lord Hood set up. They kept moving. The ground troops were ordered by a high ranking officer to split up and follow his scorpion tank. The rest of the vehicles rolled on through to a large lake they followed the trail that crashed pelicans, phantoms, ECT. The convoy stopped at a small building that was under attack by covenant banshees, and phantoms, while pelicans evacuated marines out of the base.

“This must be ‘Crow’s Nest’…” Captain Warner said on the SQUADCOM. The warthogs entered the base via tunnel entry. The scorpions covered their exit and fired on any enemy air support.

The warthogs kept going through a motor pool until it came to a dead end.

“Looks like we’re on foot from here…” Said Corporal Dewey. The marines cleared out hallways of grunts and Jakals. They found a pack of Brutes, along with many marine prisoners. The Brutes spotted Lieutenant Young. The shot him down with their Spiker. His side exploded into a puddle of guts. The rest of the platoon charged into the room, taking the Brutes by surprise, but the creatures reformed and resisted the attack. A War Chieftain appeared and cut down a gianormous group of marines. Warner shot it in the face with controlled burst rounds. The helmet flew off of his head like when a hunter shoots a bird right out of the sky. The marines advanced and got up close and personal with the Brute squad. The marines in the room next door kicked open the metal door and grabbed dead marines gear. They moved on through the Barracks. They eventually spotted more Brutes. This time there were also grunts and drones. They silently advanced into the room. Staff Sergeant Kendrick snuck up on a Brute Major and melee him on the back. Captain Warner charged the aliens with full force, and determination to save the marines in the base.

“Get that SMG up here!” Sergeant Greene yelled. Private Louis and Corporal Quinn both got hit by maulers. They fell, screaming, and then a couple of Brutes attacked them with carbines, killing them instantly. Captain Warner watched in terror as her platoon was cut down faster than you could blink your eye. She gave one last final effort. She picked up a shotgun and slaughtered every Brute she saw in front of her eyes. The drones poured out of the hole in the ceiling they were hiding in. The marines pulled out any available automatic weapon, MA5B, M7 SMG, or AIE 486H HMGs.

“Corporal, get up here with that HMG! Lieutenant, get out your Jackhammer!” Commander Yang yelled over the gunfire spewing past them. A needle got Yang in the chest, and it barely missed his lung. He fell down and yelped, but then he couldn’t feel the pain. Warner threw a Fragmentation grenade. One Brute and a few other grunts exploded into fireworks of alien guts. Sergeant Greene moved up to the HMG after Lance Corporal Jackson was shot in the face by a beam rifle. Greene shot wildly in the air at the drones, killing most of the swarm. He ducked when a Jakal ran out firing its beam rifle again. It missed him by an inch. He ran behind a stack of supply cases. Warner picked up Yang, took the needle out of his chest. She dragged him over to Corporal McKay, the medic. McKay took out some biofoam.

“It looks pretty bad, but he’ll make it if we can get him back to base at just the right time” The medic explained. Warner nodded her head. Since there was only a handful left, they were now Delta Squad. She checked to see which marines were left,

    Captain Sheila Warner- Status: Green

    Commander Yang- Status: Critical

    Lieutenant Simmons- Status: Wounded

    Lieutenant Nelson- Status: Green

    Company Sergeant Collins- Status: Critical

    Staff Sergeant Kendrick- Status: Wounded

    Sergeant Greene- Status: Green

    Corporal McKay- Status: Green

    Corporal Dewey- Status: Wounded

She uploaded this information on her HUD. They didn’t have much equipment left either.

“Fall back, NOW!” She demanded. Delta Squad retreated all the way to the motor pool, they got in a troop transport warthog and a M12 LRV. They put the pedal to the medal and got out of the base. The scorpion team was almost all dead. The remaining tanks followed them far away from the base. They met up with the hornet squadron, and the other platoons that had split up from them, or well, what remained of them. The pelicans arrived with medical supplies, the marines hurried aboard them. They treated their wounded, and checked on their squads, tallying up their casualties. They reached the Great White frigate, and the pelicans entered the hangar. Captain Warner Looked at her battle weary soldiers, some not even from her own division.

“One thing I hate most is failing a mission… But what I hate more is watching my men and women die right before my eyes… you’ve all done a great job out there, get some rest.” She told them. She needed some herself. But she stayed up remembering her soldiers dying, guts spilling, and the cries for help. She would never forget that. She would always suffer.

Chapter Three- Battle in the City

“Move up! Corporal, get your team up that hill and take out that Wraith!” Sergeant Thompson yelled to Corporal Durango. The team of five moved up to destroy the wraith. It shot at the hillside, blowing another six marines right off their feet.

“We got an inbound friendly convoy!” Suddenly an ongoing line of warthogs drove behind the Wraith, taking turns shooting at the fan that kept it running. The wraith first shook with electricity running over it, then exploded into a ball of fire. Unfortunately, the battle was not over, two squads of choppers, followed by a pair of prowlers rode up towards the convoy, and what remained of the ground troops. One of the choppers boosted its speed and rammed into a LAAG Warthog, nearly obliterating the warthog’s crew, and blowing itself up as well. Two other choppers came at the ground platoon.

“Clear a path, Sergeant Jackson, get up here take out that heavy armour!” Sergeant Thompson said to his platoon. Sergeant Jackson ran out of the armoury bunker and locked on to the coming chopper. He carefully pulled the trigger. It passed the rest of the platoon, going for him now. “Perfect…” He let go of the trigger and pulled out a grenade, the pin flew off, he held on tightly until the chopper was an inch away from his face. He let go, blowing both Sergeant Bill Jackson, and the chopper to pieces.

“BILL!!!” Jackson’s only brother yelled. Corporal Durango was still out in the open, and two of his squad-mates have already been killed. He moved in on the first prowler he saw, as did the rest of his squad, except Private Barnes, the prowler twisted around and the motor caught the Private by the arm, the brute in the passenger seat shot him in the face with a carbine.

“Everybody down!” Yelled PFC Hudgins. He stuck a frag in the brute driver’s mouth, and the creature grabbed him by the neck. The vehicle exploded, as did Hudgins, and Corporal Finnigan. Mark Durango Moved his team into the nearest bunker, and had them all get BR55 SR HB’s, M7s SMG’s and trip mines. They ran out and placed trip mines in the open, wherever the choppers would be most likely to go. They ran to the rest of the platoon. The trip mines exploded about three of the choppers, and the remaining prowler. Now, there were only two choppers left, and six warthogs. One of the two LAAG warthogs fired its chaingun, destroying the “two wheeler vehicles from hell”.  Sergeant Thompson motioned for his marines to advance on the covenant century posts. A pair of Jakals ran out from cover with their beam rifles, but with one glance at the ongoing platoon of foes, they ducked their heads and ran for their lives. A brute with golden armour, followed by a squad of stealth brutes (wearing active camo.) shot the Jakals dead. The brutes spotted the marines, while the stealth squad was rammed by the warthogs following them. But the brute wasn’t about to give up. It pulled out the brute shot, and then let out a fierce yell, but never got a chance to fire its weapon, for the marines all fired on him until he fell. Sergeant Thomson kicked the dead Brute and fired the bullets into its forehead. The met up with three supply birds near a highway. The last one was just about to drop of a gauss, and then a wraith shot the nose of the pelican, the last three marines quickly jumped into the warthog and the newly formed convoy backed away from the twirling pelican, it crashed in the middle of the highway.

“Great… We’re pinned here now!” PFC White shouted. The marines on the other side drove their warthogs to the other side right on time, not including the new LAAG. The highway cracked on one side, and the warthog’s driver didn’t expect it, the warthog dipped down and fell into a hole under the road. The rest of the marines took cover behind the pelican… Waiting and crossing their fingers. They all had a feeling they’d be there overnight…

Re: [FF] The untold stories of the 504th Infantry Division

Is this like a continuation of recon 42?

Anyway, its a bit short, I was puzzled on what was happening.

All i got was there was a group of marines in pelicans were going somewhere, then one got shot down and **boom, boom, bang, bang** a few ships got blown up and the UNSC evently won.

    Is that right?

The was you ended it was not verry good, ending it on a cliffhanger is best.

If i was writing this FF i would have put more deatale into the scene when the pelicans are moving towards their LZ. Whilst the pelicans are on the move i would have introduced 2 marines in one of the pelicans and create 2 charictors. Then leave it on the cliff hanger of the AA Gun opening up. Saying that, I like to make stories where there is a storyline and discription, My curent one is a story about a guy named Ren and he is trying to surrvive in the middle of the war as a innocent by stander.

Apart from that, its OK, not brill but OK.
