    AI clothes

i just watched the World Exclusive Field Trip to Harvest video and released something which made me think why does Serena wear clothes when Cortana doesn't. After Playing though 3 game were the only AI you meant is naked gave me the idea that the AIs couldnt wear clothes. i just thought it was funny because either they are built with clothes that they cannot take off, or cortana just likes to save the world naked, which is kinda weird and creepy. And If they are able to change clothes what would they wear when out of uniform.

    Re: AI clothes

A newly created AI, either "smart" or "dumb", selects their own personality. Generally they are figures from mythology, religion or just plain old human history.

Cortana chose to resemble her "mother" and so kept herself very simple. A naked young and fit woman. Other AI's though are not bound to this form.

    Re: AI clothes

True. AI's can take any form. They just take shapely female forms because it drives up the sales figures.

In any case, the lack of textures on Cortana keep me thinking it's supposed to be some sort of skinsuit she's wearing (Like in those crappy Sci-Fi films, but tighter) or that the issue of human skin is not one she addresses.

    Lethe:

Then you should be pretty happy with the game; it's a lot of fun.
Even if a squad of marines out of dozens of units on a battle field has shoulder pads .25" too thick for a fanboy's tastes :)

    Inspires confidence, no?

I just like to think that she chose a pure form. Free of all restrictions. As humans are more or less ment to be. Clothing is a social thing to be honest. Our skin is probably the best defence we have ever had. With out the clothing she is, in my eyes atleast, closer to being the human we all want to be. Pure and unfettered. Smart and clever. No clothing is required for those qualities.

Am i the only one who thinks this guy is strange, like he watches a video and straight after goes on to Halowars.com, makes an account, and talks about how be is disappointed with the fact that there is a AI that doesn't appear as if she were not wearing any clothes at all. IMO this guy is "kinda weird and creepy."

I am a pure bred Minnesota white boy. I love the cold. I have walked in blizzards with shorts, t-shirt and flipflops. The cold has never bothered me what so ever.

Free of all restrictions... would not be human.
If I, as an AI, wanted a form that would emphasize my intelligence, I wouldn't choose a human form. It would probably be something like a Rubik's Cube, or some sort of puzzle or mathematical concept.

Or I would take the form of a historical figure, such as Gregor Mendel, or General Patton. In any case, clothes would emphasize familiarity, and positively impact AI-human interactions.

I just don't think that she thought "I want a naked avatar". I just believe she didn't address the issue.

Yeah. Where I live, Winter is cold as Hell, and Summer is hot as Hell. A person could walk around in a blizzard in only his shorts, but he couldn't last the whole summer or winter buck naked. If they tried, they'd have to completely limit themselves to acting during certain times of the day, or severely limiting our time outside.

True, clothes do get overly extravagant (Note the popularity of wearing logos that make you look like a walking billboard?) but they're necessary to a degree.

True, Cortana is supposed to have full understanding of Humanity, (and Bungie seemed to want to make her like the Ultimate Human weapon) so No Clothing is required...and as stated before AI can choose there own avatars

take for example Arkenson's(sp) AI...Araquiel, who's avatar is described as having a "demonic" or "diabolical" look

or the Harvest Agricultural A.I. Mack, who choose to have his avatar be a "classic" human Cowboy...dirt included

No...they are loyal to Humans but they also use logic...if the A.I. does not see any logic or any necessity for such an order, he or she will just diagnose the commander as stupid/insane/unfit...well thats based on Cortana...IDK about a dumb A.I.

no commander would ever do that period
