VaultingFrog:
Rasq'uire'laskar:True. AI's can take any form. They just take shapely female forms because it drives up the sales figures.
In any case, the lack of textures on Cortana keep me thinking it's supposed to be some sort of skinsuit she's wearing (Like in those crappy Sci-Fi films, but tighter) or that the issue of human skin is not one she addresses.
I just like to think that she chose a pure form. Free of all restrictions.
Free of all restrictions... would not be human.
If I, as an AI, wanted a form that would emphasize my intelligence, I wouldn't choose a human form. It would probably be something like a Rubik's Cube, or some sort of puzzle or mathematical concept.
Or I would take the form of a historical figure, such as Gregor Mendel, or General Patton. In any case, clothes would emphasize familiarity, and positively impact AI-human interactions.
I just don't think that she thought "I want a naked avatar". I just believe she didn't address the issue.
VaultingFrog:As humans are more or less ment to be. Clothing is a social thing to be honest. Our skin is probably the best defence we have ever had. With out the clothing she is, in my eyes atleast, closer to being the human we all want to be. Pure and unfettered. Smart and clever. No clothing is required for those qualities.
Yeah. Where I live, Winter is cold as Hell, and Summer is hot as Hell. A person could walk around in a blizzard in only his shorts, but he couldn't last the whole summer or winter buck naked. If they tried, they'd have to completely limit themselves to acting during certain times of the day, or severely limiting our time outside.
True, clothes do get overly extravagant (Note the popularity of wearing logos that make you look like a walking billboard?) but they're necessary to a degree.
Lethe:
Then you should be pretty happy with the game; it's a lot of fun.
Even if a squad of marines out of dozens of units on a battle field has shoulder pads .25" too thick for a fanboy's tastes :)
Inspires confidence, no?
