We weren't alive 100,000 years ago. We started at 40,000 B.C.

The halos are made to kill all life, but I say the only reason why we made it was from (it's hard to explain) eventually over time life would have started back up and slowly spread.

Earth is out of reach of the fire zone. I read and heard this somewhere.

The Halo Array were built to house the Flood and to deprive the Flood food.

The Forerunners built a sort of machine on Earth that speeds up evolution and quicking growth of new lifeforms. Also read this somewhere.

No, Earth is within the blast radius. Otherwise there would be no point in having a gateway to the Ark there.

Humanity survived the Halo blasts because the Librarian brought them to the Ark, which is outside of our galaxy, so it is outside the range of the Halo Array.

I was just stating something that I heared before.

I've known that it was or why would Cortana state that we need to stop Halo from firing and save Humanity in Halo: Combat Evovled and Halo: The Flood and also why else would Miranda Keyes keep saying in Halo 3 to stop the Halo Array from firing that would kill every last human.

Not being mean or anything. Just stating this.

Why would the flood fire the halo rings? All they would be doing is destroying there food essentially killing themselves.

Re: if the flood took over and the halos were fired

True. They would more likely try to destroy it or take the index from the ring. (Latter is based of knowledge of Flood in Halo 2 or earlier as they do not know about the Ark)

Incorrect. 100,000 years ago the first humans were migrating out of Africa (completely supportive of the Halo Installations firing as the portal was in Africa and after their firing humanity began to spread back out over the planet)

    Well that's simple:

The invincible Marines from the Pillar of Autumn would be left alive and would hunt down any surviving flood!

I think everyone else answered the question correctly already

Re: if the flood took over and the halos were fired

Yes that's correct, the Forerunners "indexed" us, protecting us, then when the installations were fired, we were taken back to Earth via that portal and the Forerunner's creations (The other type of sentinel found on Onyx) and then we just went about doing our buisiness.

The Forerunner favourited us (apparently we were the most like them) and so gave us and only us the ability to activate the Halo rings.

You can find this info on Ascendant Justice's blogs, or if you want to manually do it - read the terminals on different difficulties and read the 5 (soon to be 6, yay!) Halo novels:

Fall of Reach, The Flood, First Strike, Ghosts of Onxy, Contact Harvest and the later-this-year-to-be-released  Cole Protocol.
