    The Clash (FF)

Okay this is a Fan Fic from TimeRecon not me

    Please post your thoughts

    The Clash

    Prologue

"Pvt. Cornell, it's time for your patrol." Ordered Sgt. Carlson.

"Sir, yes sir!" I eagerly snatched up my Battle rifle and put on my helmet. I was on the shore within seconds. A few minutes later, I spotted a ripple in the water. The next thing I knew, the ripple was replaced by a large metallic pod. My first thought was that it was part of a training exercise I was excluded from, but then the pod opened. Some deformed being stepped out, a machine gun in hand. Suddenly, many more emerged, and more of the horrid creatures stepped out. Then, with inhuman reflexes, they leaped onto the shore. I ran to base and set off the alarm.

"What the hell is an invasion doing here?" I thought.

Before I could think any more, the gates bursted open and the things poured in. The garrison was quickly overwhelmed, cut down and overrun. I retreated with Sgt. Carlson, and three other privates by the names of Karl, David, and James. We drove 2 warthogs as fast as possible, narrowly escaping. So the invasion begins.

    Chapter 1: 10 minutes earlier:

"Hey Cornell. I have a question." said Sgt. Carlson.

    "What is it sir?"

"Why do you think we are stationed here anymore? We got rid of the UFCs and the flood are gone, along with the Covies. What's the threat?"

"I couldn't answer that for the life of me, sir." "Maybe we should request a withdrawl."

"Hey, it's time for your guard duty. Hop to it, soldier!"

Now:"Its times like those where I wish the Sgt. went through with his actions. To think, those men could be alive at home if he called in for a withdrawal. But now..."

My train of thought was cut off when the Hog I was driving hit a rock and flipped over. The other Privates stopped to come help, but then I realized... we hadn't been looking for the things. I glanced over my shoulder and saw a dark shadow along the horizon.

"James help me out NOW! Those things didn't stop following us!"

"Sir, the Sarge is stuck under the warthog."

"Get him the hell out!" Somehow, one of the privates managed to grab a radio before the evac, so he radioed in our destination and coordinates, hoping that the city would respond, or at least be warned.

"Alright, get him into yours. We can't hope to flip over the other hog." I said.

"Sir, how are we gonna fit 5 people? That's 2 over the normal amount." said Pvt. Karl.

"We're in the marines, soldier. We'll find a way." I replied.

We hauled Sgt. Carlson into the Warthog, because he sprained his leg. We had difficulty fitting everyone, but it didn't matter to us if it was a tight fit.

"Drive this baby to the city!" Said Pvt. David.

"Sir, take a look behind us." Said Pvt. James.

In the rear, I saw the distinct shapes of more of the deformities, but this time, some had a box in hand, and some had swords and hooks.

"What kind of 26th century weapons are those?"I thought to myself.

Suddenly, one of the boxes was thrown at us, and the rear wheel erupted in flames. We were tossed out, and sprang for our guns. We sprayed return fire in their direction, but 5 could not hold 1000.

    Chapter 2:

Somehow, we managed to throw a frag grenade and temporarily confuse the creatures. That gave us an opportunity to haul a** out of there. We sprinted to the city, which was in our line of sight. Every few seconds we would stop and send a volley of speeding bullets at the creatures. Pvt. Karl tripped over his boots, and Pvt. James went to help him up. Both of them were taken by surprise when 2 of the creatures leaped on top of each of them, tearing their throats out.

"What the **** do we do against that?" Pvt. David said, panting.

"Your guess is as good as mine." Sgt. Carlson said, limping.

"We can't keep running...I'm almost out of energy..." I said.

In the distance, I heard the revving of a couple of warthog engines, and, still thinking I was paranoid, saw them come out of the city gates.
The three warthogs arrived, and six marines got out, guns blazing. They told us to hop into the passenger seats, and they quickly got back in the warthogs. We drove like h*** back to the city, where another soldier was waiting.

    "Oh thank god." I said.

"Excuse me, soldier, where are you from?" The sentry asked.

"We just escaped from the shoreline base, about an hour ago." I replied.

"Well, if you're happy, don't be. Our condition is no better than yours."

I looked around and noticed the buildings were empty, bodies littered the streets, and many of the roads were blockaded. Pools of blood covered the concrete.

"Why didn't you call for back-up?" I asked.

"We lost radio contact earlier today. The attack happened soon after." the sentry replied.

"Well how many men are left from the attack?" I asked.

"Kid you're looking at the survivors..."

Then I heard a sharp screech in the distance.

"Contact!" one of the soldiers yelled. One of the buildings exploded, and tumbled over in a cloud of debris. We dove for cover inside a building, but we were knocked out in the process.

    Chapter 3:

I awoke to the smell of burnt rubber, and some faint scent of blood. I sprung off the ground and scanned the room. Sgt. Carlson and Pvt. David  were sitting in a corner, but the other marines were gone. I also spotted 2 piles of smouldering ash and concrete where the warthogs were.

"What the hell did those things do?" I asked.

"It wasn't just those things...there were big soldiers in metal suits. They had drills and huge *** guns."

"Yeah," replied Pvt. David, "they shot the place up good, looking for us. They don't want us to get word out."

"Hey David, did you manage to pick up James' radio?"

"Yeah but it broke after he used it."

"Crap. Looks like we're alone in this one."

In the distance I heard a moan, but it started to fade, and was replaced by a bloodcurdling scream.

      "Oh s*** they found us!"

      "Sarge, where are the others?"

At that moment 6 marines dove into the doorway and recovered in seconds, pointing their guns outside.

"Guys," one of them said, "we have to leave. Now!"

"Where's the sentry guy?" I asked.

"That drill went right through him...anyways, we have bad news. Those big things...bullets don't kill them. We would need AP rounds, and we ran out of those a while ago."

"Hey wait, I grabbed some grenades from one of their boxes." Pvt. David said.

"We are going to need to set up some sort of barricade against the doorway. Make sure there is no other way in, and bar the windows. Those things will jump right through them."

With those orders from the Sgt. we got to work instantly. I could feel my arms shaking. I had experienced war before. But not like this. These were a whole different species, one that was primitive and yet advanced. Suddenly the building shook, and the things were outside. I grabbed my MA5B rifle, and started blasting them to h***. One of the marines went down cover the blockade, and a window shattered, splintering Pvt. Davids arm. There were not many, so we neutralized them quick, but we heard the shuffling of many footsteps.

"We have to work faster!" I said.

"Sir at the moment, that's not possible."

"Then just barricade the entrance and close the doors, cover through the windows. Hey Sarge are you going to help us with this..." My speech was lost when I spun my head.

    Chapter 4:

A few seconds later I turned around and saw another hallway, with the Sarge pinned up against the wall, a knife through his stomach.

"What the f***? What happened to Sarge?"

But by that time it was too late to notice there was a back door. Apparently, Sgt. Carlson had gone to check it out and in the heat of battle we did not hear him die.

"David, go check that out, before the other things find it!"

"Agh, I can't Ian, my arm is busted. The glass is stuck."

"Fine, I'll go, but don't die without me."

I walked over to the place Sarge was. I removed the knife and put it in my belt, but wiped it off first. I placed Sarge on the ground and said a blessing.

"You were a good Sergeant, Carlson."

I rushed down the hallway, hoping to beat the things to the entrance, but I got to the end of the hallway and there was no door. As I wondered where they came from, I looked up and saw a hole in the ceiling. Then, I saw a shadow approach it from above, and something crawled out. It started mumbling to itself and spotted me. I took out my gun, but it lashed out and I dropped it. I took out my pistol, but it's reply was, "I am too fast for you, puny human. Give up and I will kill you quickly." All the while a hissing noise was heard and a forked tongue protruded from the being's mouth.

"Hah, after what you did to my pal back there, I ain't giving in to you."

"Oh yesss, that one wasss tassty."

After hearing that, my rage took the best of me and I stabbed the creature with the salvaged knife, it went through it's heart, killing it instantly. It doubled over and fell.

I ran back to the make-shift base when I saw a disturbing sight. The barricades were broken and the windows were cracked. There was a metal thing roaming the room, and a little girl accompanied it.

I noticed there were no bodies, and that the girl was huddled over the Sarge with a syringe in hand, injecting it into him. I noticed the grenade box, not far from the girl. I took another step, but that was a huge mistake. The girl glanced at me, and screamed. The metal thing roared and revved up its drill, staring at me with mechanical red eyes. It lunged at me, but I side stepped and snatched up the grenades. I looked inside, but it was empty.

"Just my freaking luck." I thought.

The thing lunged again, but this time it went through a window. In the distance, I heard a loud thump, and a surge of electricity surrounded its body.

"Mr .Bubbles?" The girl said. "Why aren't you talking to me Mr. B? What happened to you?"

"Hey little girl everything is gonna be-"

"Get away from me you monster! You killed Mr. B!"

I noticed something wrong with the color of her skin, and found a needle filled with a blue liquid. I injected it in myself, and fainted. When I got up, the girl was standing over me. I put my hand on her head, and it turned white. She started screaming, "No! No no!" but then she fell to the ground and looked normal.

      "Thank you kind sir."

At that moment, a deformed remains of one of the marines stepped into the building, staring at me, and then running.

      "Oh great, I'm discovered."

    Chapter 5:

Cornell marched outside, his MAP5 rifle shouldered. The evident carnage of the attack was worse than he thought. There were bodies everywhere. But again, he saw no dead marines.

"What saw me?" he pondered to himself.

His question was answered when he noticed a Battle Rifle poke out of an alleyway.

"Hey David, any of you guys there?"

There was a low grunt of acknowledgement, and Pvt. David stepped out. He raised his hand, and the 6 remaining marines peered out, and walked up. They looked at me with suspiscion.

"Is that you, Cornell?" David asked.

"Of course man, who else would it be?"

"Well the man you saw at the entrance to the city...they dragged him out of the building and all we could make out was an agonizing scream, and then silence. We didn't know what to make of it. After the attack, we scrambled into hiding spots in this alleyway."

      "How did you guys survive?"

"Well, obviously we aren't as stupid as those things."

"Ya know what? Screw it, we need to relocate."

      "Aggllllhk!"

      "What the hell was that?"

      "OH shi*, man down!"

I turned around to notice one of the men was missing, and a trail of blood led around the corner. One of the other men went to scout, and the next thing I knew, he was against the stop post, gasping for breath.

"How are they doing this? I can't see a thing moving."

      "Contact! Aghhh!"

Another man was dragged out, but I shot around him, and something materialized out of thin air.

"What the heck, is that some kind of Houdini? Jesus it moves fast as he**!"

The man got up as fast as he could, but a metal soldier came through the building, and the man's stomach was drilled through, leaving scarlet drops of blood splattered on my face.

      "Fall back, for christ's sake!"

We ran as fast as we could back to the building, and David tripped. He got up fast enough, but then another man dropped dead, a hook in his spine. We entered the building, and noticed the Sarge's body was gone. There were large footprints engraved into the ground.

"Looks like we weren't here first." I said.

"Well, there are only 6 us left. Good lord we started with 10."

Something tapped on the window, and I saw the sentry man from before.

      "I'm sorry, isn't he dead?"

"Let me in! They're right behind me! Help!"

We let him in, and he explained how the scream came from the thing he killed. He disguised himself as one of the deformed things, and snuck back here when he saw me. He then started to look for us, but failed and so came back here.

We sat down, and started discussing what we should do, when I smelled dead bodies, and felt hot breath on my neck. Pvt. James started to raise his finger, but it was replaced by a bleeding stump. He stifled a scream and then I began to reach for my handgun. An explosion went off, and I dove forward, turning to fire. What I saw brought tears to my eyes...

    Chapter 6:

What I saw when I turned around was my beloved Sergeant Carlson, but obviously he wasn't Sgt. Carlson anymore. He was mutilated all over. He had a blank stare and a hungering expression. "My father has become a monster."

      "Cornell, he's hostile, shoot him."

      "I can't do it myself..."

He started bleeding rapidly, and he had a bullethole through his stomach. David looked at me with a sympathetic face when I saw his rifle pointed at Carlson.

"Damnit, he was the last memory I had of my family. That's just one more thing was has taken from me! Well, we have to get him buried, so they don't damage him further."

We went outside and buried my father in the dirt beside the road. Inside the building I heard the rambling of something unintelligible coming from the radio. It sounded faintly human, so I picked it up. Someone said:

"Hello, Private Cornell. My name is Johnathon Ryan. I'm sure you have met my soldiers."

      "Why are you attacking us?"

"Because, my Splicers and Little Sisters required more ADAM. The Big Daddies just protect the Little Sisters, but occasionally fight in war."

"What the h*** is a splicer?"

"Exactly what your father has become."

"How do you know my father, you son of a bi***?"

"Oh, I know more than you think, Steven."

"...How do you know my first name? I haven't used it in years!"

"That is not important right now. I think I shall be generous, and give you a headstart before my splicers get there. 5...4..."

"Holy shi*, we have to get out. NOW!"

The marines gathered their things, and we ran out the building.

      "2...1...0. Goodbye, Steven."

The rapid thudding of footsteps could be clearly heard in the proximity of the building.

"Find some cover, we can't take them. Don't get caught off guard."

We hid in a set of shrubs, while 2 other marines climbed a tree. The splicers came along, and I heard the creaking of a big daddy. A splicer started sniffing the air, and moved to the tree. Without warning, he peered up the tree and shouted something. The marines went for their weapons, but the big daddy removed the tree from the ground and dropped it. The splicers leaped into the tree, and all I could hear was the stomach-turning rip of human flesh. The marines didn't even have time to scream. The marine next to me opened his mouth, and said:

      "Let's hope they don't fi-"

I looked over, wondering why he stopped. There was a knife as large as my hand imapaled in his chest.

"Any of you other marinessss out there? We will find you ssssoldiersss, one way or sssome other.

Another marine got nervous, and moved, rustling the bushes. The splicers snapped to attention, facing the bushes.

"Go invesstigate the busssshesss." the commander said.

The scout's first mistake was listening. Before he reached the bushes, I whipped out my handgun, and, with a silencer attached, he never new what hit him. Apparently, neither did the other splicers.

"What the hell? Who sshot that sssplicer? Where are thossse damned humansss?"

As I wondered how we would slip by them, I turned over to see that everyone but David was gone. He notioned for me to follow, and, as quietly as possible, I crawled over to him.

"We found a way out." he whispered softly.

There was a tunnel in front of me. I noted that there were only 2 others besides us.

"Considering we might die, what are your guys' names?

"Well I'm Corporal Peters." Said one.

"I'm Private First Class Roger." Said the other.

"This tunnel leads halfway across the city. We just have to follow it. It leads back to the entrance."

We followed the tunnel about 1/4 of the way, then we knew something was wrong. The water occupying the tunnel wasn't blue, or any other color. It was red. I looked over and saw some mice eating away at a marine's body, and I heard splashing behind us. I looked, but nothing was there. The roof started leaking plaster, and concrete.

      "David there's something here..."

I noticed David wasn't moving. He turned instantly and made a "Shushing" gesture with his finger. I looked ahead and saw another Little Sister Big Daddy pair, scavenging a pile of marine corpses.

      "Oh geez that's sick."

Cpl. Peters took out some demolitions, and started setting them up at the ending of the tunnel.

      "What's he doing?"

      "You'll see."

Then, he ran back to us, and yelled at the Big Daddy. It came rushing towards us, but it ran into the tripwire, fell and then burst into flames. It rusted quickly, and died. The Little Sister ran over to him, and said:

"C'mon Ms. Rosie! Why don't you wanna play?"

Before it could react, I drained it of the parasite. She thanked me and went to hide. We got outside, and for some reason, I heard the roar of a pelican. I looked up, and one was coming towards us.

"Dude, did you contact them?" I asked, astonished.

      "Yup." He replied confidently.

The pelican dropped down, and ordered us to get in. I saw an overview of the city, and the chaos and carnage the splicers had caused. We arrived at a local base, but what I saw did not bring me any hope...

My bad for the double post, doubt anyone even reads this. Remember to post comments and rate. Here's chapters 3 and 4.
