    HW mistake?

I think that the first and worst mistake of HW was putting it in the Halo storyline. It limits them far too much as opposed to just some random battle with a made up story behind it.

That's just my opinion, what do you guys think?

    Re: HW mistake?

see, this is one thing i dont agree with you on... i think the idea to show the first battles with the covenant is a great idea, i have always wondered what it was like when they were first seen and when there were massive battles, and what started the battles, etc.

    Re: HW mistake?

    No.

I'm SURE that they are able to deal with it. They put a lot more thought into the storyline than you ever did, and I'm sure that they feel that they know what they are doing.

Stating when Halo Wars takes place hardly limits them, as we don't know everything about the timeline.

    Re: HW mistake?

definitly  disagree,  i think connecting it to the halo storyline gives people even more of a  personal connection to the game instead of it just being a random battle that no one knows about that didn't really effect the war that greatly.

well heres the thing the halo story line is something alot of people know about so say they make a new one like with Universe at War did can 10 people tell me the races in that game? probably not with out looking it up but you get the point  any way so insted of makeing a new game back story they make the game about something we all know and love

    Halo

    see how that works?

Half Life 2 had to limit on Half Life 1. Now look at Half Life 1 and HL 2 storyline.

Sorry, you lost me with the mob of video games...

What I'm trying to say is that the battle could have a made up plot around it so it's still part of Halo storyline, but it's more of a mystery so that the options are more open. It's still in the Halo storyline, like the Halo books, they just kind of made it up as they went.

P.S- Rasq, I knew you were going to throw something in like I'm not anywhere near as worthy as the gods at ES. Keep your comments to your self.

Halo storyline is something many fans like.

What better way to make money than to make something where people automatically love it?

I never called them Gods or anything. I never said anything about you being 'worthy'.

It's just a simple fact. They are being paid and pressured to think of a good campaign that fits in with Halo. They have spent the better part of TWO YEARS working on it.

You probably haven't been aware of Halowars for three months. Not to mention your infamous "screw Canon" attitude.

    Halo

    see how that works?

Masari, Novus, and Hierarchy. And I didn't even look it up cause I have UaW and it's probably the best RTS on the console yet.

Although 2v2 is really bad any laggy. But the 1v1 is great, and I can't wait till the next patch. They did the controls really nicely and perfect. And the map is pretty cool how you can scroll through it.

But the game is already dead because no one has heard of it, and the reveiwers didn't get paid enough to give it a right reveiw.

Such a shame. I prefer Petroglyph community over this one any day. It's just that Halo Wars is another money scandal for MS, and a huge payment to Ensemble. That's all the gaming community cares about anymore. The more money you have, the more success the game will have.
Same goes for the Halo franchise. I seriously think their will be a Halo 4, or something. Bungie did bad at halo 3, leaving yet another cliff hanger.

But anyways. Halo Wars won't be bad, simply  because it has the word "Halo" in it. So expect great reviews of this game. Cause M$ won't allow it to get a bad one.

Missing the old halo wars forums... :-( And Paragon!

So you want them to make a halo game as random as this? http://video.yahoo.com/watch/2485138/7600723 Is that what your saying??

because if you "Made up a story as you go" It would be like Techno Kittens up there

And Your Not Nearly as Valuable as a  piece of sand in a Desert(spelling?).............

Really this has to be your WORST idea/statement YET

    Re: HW mistake?

I must disagree.  Not only because the prospect of being able to make my marines behave INTELLIGENTLY (Anyone who's played a Halo game has probobly experienced at least a dozen deaths from their own soldier's grenades.  Or been pissed when the blind fools drove your other Warthog over a cliff), but also because the Halo canon has a great story behind it already, allowing just a little more thought to be put into the gameplay.

An RTS with some random storyline is fine by all means (if it plays well, of course), but having a solid story like that you'll find in the Halo canon makes the experience all the more enjoyable.

I can see what you mean, James, as making a game in an established storyline would be more challenging than making your own in many ways, but I still disagree that it was a horrible mistake.

On a side note, that Techno Kittens thing was entertaining, in a cute, pointlessly random way.
