    heroes

alright, there may have a post on this already but i could give a ***.

what do you think about having hero units? i think that sometimes they're cool but when you lose a long damned mission just because you've forgotten where your jim raynor or field commander etc. has died you want to huck your computer out of the window.

what if you could have different storylines based on who died or how long a battle took... something like that anyway.

    Re: heroes

why not make some new ones? remember in the book the flood when the chief sees the marine in the library named marvin mobuto(or something like that) give the halo universe a chance to expand with some more bad muthas

keyes was in the navy, he probably wouldn't have seen any ground action, good idea though. by the way, is this going to take place on reach? i'm hoping not, it's going to suck thinking, "hey i'm going to win... wait, no they're going to turn my ass into glass

    Re: heroes

i doubt that most of it will be on reach but the final battle (if there is one) might be on reach it will probibly take pklace on harvest or some other far out colony

i know this is a little far out but what if there was a battle on reach and then the survivors were on the Autum and then you could play on halo and control the survivors of the crash( not MC of course because in the games you all ready do that)

FlippyHippy you stupid ***. There have been like 9 threads on this and we really didn't need a tenth. There may or may not be Hero units in HW. If there is, the UNSC will have the Spartan Group Omega (that was feature in the trailer) and the Covenant will most likely have Zealots(gold elites).

Your idea for if your hero dies then the entire campaign changes is an alright idea but I don't think they should bother with that really. They should just make a standard campaign where everything is set in stone. I really don't play many RTS's campaigns that much. I usually play skirmish and online which is usually the strong point in RTS's.

hey man, no need to be dickish, i'm just saying that they might be cool to have in the game. hey, what if you could choose who you get in the beginning of the battle in multiplayer?

    Re: heroes

We've discussed this dozens of times.

Oh, wait, you're just too apathetic to go and look it up, tormenting the rest of us with the same old thing.

Heroes are OK in single player, but they will just be stronger than normal units. And you had better keep them alive, or it's pointless. I'd rather have one long, epic game than a short game with multiple storylines.

Heroes had better not be in multiplayer. When they were used in WarCrap III, they only took away from the gameplay. It was no longer 'who could control his armies the best'. It was "who could level up his heroes the fastest". No tactics, no management, only unrealistic heroes that could eat entire armies for breakfast.

ES has made a few good RTSs. They know better than to muddy up the game with Heroes.

    Lethe:

Then you should be pretty happy with the game; it's a lot of fun.
Even if a squad of marines out of dozens of units on a battle field has shoulder pads .25" too thick for a fanboy's tastes :)

    Inspires confidence, no?

Have you never played Age Of Empires 2? Nearly every campaign had a Hero unit in it! Not to mention the special units given to each faction...

I think that if they have space battles(i know that they probably wont have it, but in case they do) they should have a frigate under the command of Admiral Cole.

I've played AoE and StarCraft, and both campaigns had heroes in them. That was OK.

Beatnik here was suggesting WarCrap III heroes in multiplayer. That is anything but OK.

    Re: heroes

They wouldn't give a Admiral a mere Frigate. He would have at least a destroyer, if not a Cruiser.
