The Fuhrer: I FJ I: I am strongly against this nerf for Gremlins.
You basicly said, in alot of words. Tanks lose to Gremlins, but tanks are needed to counter Hogs. That has nothing to do with the unbalance of Gremlins. Gremlins beat tanks, and quite rightly so, but Marines frigging anialate Gremlins, Hornets own Gremlins, Cobras can even defend a base from Gremlin attacks. The baance issues of Gremlins have nothing to do with Tech 2 onward, the only problem was a Tech 1 unit, has no Tech 1 counters, that was basicly it.
Anders could get a few Gremlins out early, and stop Froge doing anything with Hogs/Marines. These two units are key to map control, Anders gets map control and wins the game. That was the problem.
At the end you said, Anders can still get gunner earlier, force Forge to Trutle, and then win. Well thats not true. Anders generosly named Eco Bonus does not stand up to Froges. Forge can easily get Hogs, like only 8 seconds slower than Anders, but Forge can also afford turrets, and a handfull of Marines or Flamers. Forge will totaly bully Anders, and gain map control and win.
Back to the problem. A Tech 1 unit, has no Tech 1 counters
Lets put in some counters then. Make Hogs a better fight against Gremlins, by making Gremlins take more damage from Hogs. A good way would also to be Gremlins take like an extra 20% damage from ram. Also, Marines should do more damage to gremlins.
Let me ask everyone something. If hypertheicly, Gremlins could be counterd by Marines, and also did not WTFPwn Hogs. If the Gremlin's power as brought down to an acceptable level would you consider that balance?
so making it a tech 2 unit would totally solve that problem wouldn't it?there is no way to counter them with marines anyways, flamers own marines 3 to 1. and gremlins can easily be out of the range of any marine.
why would making hogs good against gremlins be any better than putting them to tech 2?
gremlins are not hard counter to vehicles in the first place, go read the discription. its a support vehicle. this way you can still use it as support but not use them to totally own vehicles.
It does a half arsed effort of fixing the problem. I kinda fixes it, but creates new ones.
Forge can now Spam hogs againt Anders early game for map control. Anders can of corse do this back, with 1 more hog than Forge, not exactly a winning number. Forge can now throw in 5 hogs and 5 NB Marines easily, Anders Eco only allows for 6 Hogs and 1 FB flamer. Forge can even through up a turret and stop spawn camping from Anders.
This means, Forge can both defend his base, and take map control at the same time. This is a problem, Anders Eco is soo weak, that she needs a little boost to help fight Hogs the Hogs and Marines Gremlins where too good at this, but just make them acceptable.
