For those not in the know, this vessel has a new classification previously unheard of. It's not a frigate, a Marathon-class cruiser, or a Halcyon-class cruiser. Since destroyers have not been classified so far, could the Phoenix class be one of the categories?

Since a few members of Bungie started the Phoenix project (Jason maybe?) after Halo 1 but before Halo 2, and it hasn't seen the light of day, could this be the story tellers officially/unofficially saying "We scrapped the Phoenix/RTS idea because we couldn't get it to work with a new IP, so here - you guys can make it work with our existing IP?"
