Wild Smurf 14:Makes sense. Explains why the first Halo wasn't activated in Halo 1. The Covenant had control of the Control Room (before the Master Chief took it over) of the first Halo and had human prisoners. They could have easily activated the ring, but the Prophets hadn't found the Ark yet, so they knew they would die.
Interesting insight on that one. ^ What might have appeared to be good timing for the Chief might have simply been stalling by the Covenant.
And secondly:
What I wonder is why the prophets didn't just accept facts as they were. Truth on his own started a war that costed millions if not billions of lives. He was determined from the start not to let the sham of the Covenant be revealed. He took the two other witnesses and blackmailed them into becoming the high prophets with him. Would it really have been that bad if things were revealed?
Its not like it really would have mattered if the Covenant turned out to be false. Its not like the Sangheli and the San Shun would go back to war just because there original alliance was over. Truth's decision never really made much sense to me.
