i am amazed, i didn't read the books (i want of course!) but i know every single step in the 3 main storyline halos. 

And i must say you should take out the "theory" of your post, the PoT knew about the halos, i was wondering as well in halo 2 why he left the other prophet die (man, somehow that was not right!) and the cut the message, and in H3 he needed Johnson ( cause he is a reclaimer) "And the Dies with the rest" part.

But if he wanted to get everyone killed. (even himself) my question is.. why?

OR 

he maybe (MAYBE! IT's My THEORY) he knew that there was somewhere in the universe a primitive species and he wanted to wipe out every single advanced life form in order to be the only Leader.
