Re: Halo Universe vs. the U.S.

    Colonel Gray:

Okay. The warthog...if you remember wasn't really designed for any one particular weapon in general ( the HMMVW wasn't even meant to carry weapons in the first generation, thank your congressman/woman for that)...such as CPO Mendez's 'Hog having 4 Missiles Jerry-rigged where the Tri-Barrel 20mm Rapid Fire Anti-Materiel CANNON would be. Then there is the the 'hog being turned into a versatile light tank with its very own 90mm Tungsten-Carbide Soda Can Launcher. The 'Hog's insane electric engine that doesn't generate tons of heat like a diesel engine. The independant 4WD Drive Suspension (meaning no axles) which would give the 'Hog a rather uncanny ability to turn into a tanks dead zone and all with in a blink of an eye. So the HMMVW is great for its mission which is to protect convoys and provide infantry with some speed to keep up with the tanks. The 'Hog is meant for fighting...hence the openess of it all- clear lines of sight.

Now the Pelican...is roughly the size of a 747 if not some what smaller like a C-130. Its the big bad mother lovin' cargo carrying work horse of an army 520 years into the future that would get instantly defeated before the first shots over over because the UNSC is afraid of UH-60s (I think they would actually be like "LOL WTF?!?!" call in two Hornets and just be done with it). The Pelican can carry two mongeese (?)...(er right)...a warthog or up to about the same amount of cargo depending. Then you have its ability to hover...then its ability to mount an ungodly amount of weaponry on any part of its fuselage. So my point being here is that the pelican is actually the baby of a C-130/VC/A-22/UH-60. Think about it, when was the last time you saw a UH-60 deliver an m1A2 (heaviest tank in the world) to the battle field, a VC/A-22 Osprey deliver anything but a crash to the battlefield, or  a C-130 fly 90 meters off the ground and come to a stand still?

Now the Hornets are plain and simple the Black Hawk of the Halo-verse. In the game the could only carry 3 people (Pilot and two Hot Seats), however, in one of the Halo Books (which are more realistic) Sergeant Johnson had up to two squad being ferried by one Hornet. The UH-60 can not do that, example being The Battle of Mogadishu during OPERATION:GOTHIC SERPENT

Now onto my big lovable boom stick AKA the Scorpion. It is the all-round tank. The big baby of Israel's Merkava IV, the U.S. M1A2 and Rail Gun Technology (turret is too small to be conventionally fired), the U.K. Challenger 2, the German's L2A6 (latest version of the Leopard 2), France's Leclerc tank and Russia's T-90. The Scorpion uses no metal for the armor, only Titanium Ceramics (chemically not a metal), synthetic fibers, and silica based puddy that when stuck by a force instantly turns harder than Tungsten-Carbide (the hardest compound known to man). Then its gun can fire a 90mm Tungsten-Carbide Squash Head Round faster than the loader on an Abrams can jerk out an aluminium SABOT Round, and farther too.

In the air the UNSC would mop up the USAF probably in a massive Global Aerial Battle (GAB). During the GAB, our pilots would be forced to contend with Shortswords and Longswords, which are faster and can just simply go up and back to their ships. US Pilots would then have to contend with Air-to-Air Missiles fired from outer space. Something thats just a tad wee-bit hard to do. Now UNSC missile I do belive if they loose track of their initial target they simply find another enemy target. So the Air Force would do more dodging than actual fighting. Also, and this is just assuming, a UNSC Laptop could probably crack the computer systems of any fighter made today and scramble the signals of any RADAR guided missile (oh that would be nice surpise "Eagle Lead, Fox One! Wait, my missile is coming back at me, mayday mayday!") The UNSC Fighter Aircraft may not look manueverable...which they really aren't, but they definitely aren't made out of Aluminium like today's fighter craft are. So just shooting them with one missile isn't going to be enough.

Ah the UNSC Computers, deadly. Pure and simple...deadly. A "Dumb" AI could probably hack the Pentagon and get the launch codes for our nuclear arsenal in mere nanoseconds. I also know that a prowler always seems to shadow a UNSC Fleet (drum roll please). These ships are uber-deadly. They themselves would wipe out global communications with their Smart AI by simply taking over the satellites and using it to block energy form transmissions (CB Radios and your cell phone), they could also probably hack into and disrupt the land lines, and the internet well it'd be like the AI hiccuped.

(*cresendo to drum roll*) Now the SPARTAN IIs (*cymbals-end drum roll*), as far as I know the United States military doesn't have any type of super soldier that can flip a tank over and survive just about anything thrown at them. The SPARTANs would make even the Russian Spetznaz pee in their pants and want to be somewhere other than facing this armored demon..(no pun). I have a buddy who is Navy SEAL and I asked him once would you want to face Master Chief in hand-to-hand combat if he was real. He looked over at me and said, "Bro, you couldn't send an army of SEALs up against the Chief, from what I've read, that suit he's wearing, the shields I or any other SEAL wouldn't stand a chance." Now in HALO books some insurrectionists have the trusty M4 Carbine...Cortana muses that the weapons would prove a problem for the Admiral and the Doctor who aren't armored but not for the SPARTANS in their armored suits, because even if they managed to drain the shield the bullets would just bounce off. Considering how the US Small Arms Ammunition is interchangable between US Small Arms.

Okay, the M16 has a rate of fire of 700-950 Rounds Per Minute (rpm). The BR with the same range (depending on varient) can fire 2.4 bursts of 3 rounds per second now we round down to two burst per second multiply by 60 second to get a minute and we have 120 rounds per minute. Now the M16's rate of fire is based off of cyclic rate of the bolt not how fast one can pull the trigger the avg. size of an M16 clip is 30 rounds, the m16A2 can only fire in 3 round bursts. So we will calculate it the same way we did the BR by bringing the 36 round clip of the BR down to 30. 30 divided by 2= 15 rounds every second (keep in mind this is for the BR). If you went all out (like you could in Real Life) you'd waste through BR clips like they're going out of style, having to reload every two seconds, whcih is why the designers gave the BR-55 a 36 round clip or the more appropriate 60 round clip of the Halo Books. That give you more ammunition meaning you'd spend less time reloading than fighting. The M-16 can accept 500 round box magazines under the NATO STANAG Protocol, but this makes the weapon un-wieldly. That along with the Battle Rifle's Ammunition would give it an advantage over the M-16, which really isn't saying much in the way of the BR.
