    UNSC Paris:
    Felix:

Paris, if you think Spartan 117 did all those things alone, you are sadly mistaken.  The marines did most of the work.  You were just along to help.

Anyway, spartans are black-ops, meant for behind enemy lines, not front lines warfare.

Meaning, engaged in open warfare against any enemy would result in them losing.

In terms of what they do best(stealth) you can only compare them to other stealth units.

So, in essence, this thread is a bunch of non sense and should end.............

    now.

So after the majority of UNSC forces on Installation 04 were infected or killed by the Flood or Covenant, who else was left to wade through an ocean of Flood in the Library, retrieve the Index, and stop Spark from activating Installation 04? The Covenant sure weren't gonna do it. I don't think remaining UNSC forces would have sufficent firepower to get the Index and then take and hold the Pillar of Autumn.

And Halo 2? Who was gonna disarm the bomb on Cairo Station? And even if they did, would any of them have the balls to take it out into space, re-arm it inside a Covenant Assault Carrier, and sucessfully escape? If that Covenant Assault Carrier had survived, it would have been much more damaging for the UNSC forces in East Africa, even if the Covenant invasion was brief.

Who was gonna kill the Prophet of Regret? Certainly not the UNSC, as they wouldn't have sufficent resources to do it without a Spartan. What about fighting their way through High Charity, let alone even trying to penetrate it?

What about in Halo 3? Do you really think even the combined UNSC-Seperatist force would be able to fight their way into High Charity, retrieve Cortana, defeat the Gravemind, and get back out? Actually, Mendicant Bias hints at being more helpful than the Marines ever were during the Battle of Installation 00.

I agree with Paris (kinda feels weired after the exchange in the US vs. the Halovers thread.) Masterchief really did do more late in the UNSC/Covanent conflict than what the marines could even attempt to do. Why? Makes great gameplay. Especially with the prophet of regret. You got what, one squad to help you get their then go in alone.
