Take a spartan laser, weaken the shots to about 1/4 the strength(speeding up firing time and allowing about 20 shots per regular charge)

Move the battery into a backpack and double its size.

Now make the main weapon smaller(no battery and smaller amounts of energy mean it can be smaller as a whole) down to about teh size of a large rifle.

You now have a very weak version of the Lasgun

that would be a super rapid lasgun not a weaker one. have you ever seen a spartan laser god. i play dawn of war and the lasgun is bull s@#t

Lasguns are Semi-Auto so they fire as fast as you can pull the trigger.
DoW is not true to fluff, and the Lasguns are weakened, as is everything else. You must also take into account that the armor and weapons used by other factions make the weapons used by our MBT's look like toys.

And yes, it would be weaker since a lasgun shot is about as powerfull as a Spartan Laser shot, if not more powerfull.

BTW, an average Lasgun shot delivers a force equal to a shot delivered by a 90MM cannon... so any modern vehicle short of an MBT would be destroyed in a single shot.

i seriously challang that btw stuff, the imperial guard are about #'s, they fight in the tens of millions in standard cadian skirmishes. ten million 90 mill cannons going off could rip apart half the thirteenth black crusade in a couple volleys. and, if these lasguns are so powerful, what is the need for using old fashion bazooka's in combat? dont tell me those are equivlent to the 180mm incinerator rounds our ac-130's dish out

 

oh, and my weapon a a raygun that we can use on noobs to make them beomce less noobish.

When you find proof that says that lasguns dont deliver 3-6 MJ per shot you tell me. (6MJ is a standard 120mm tank round)
Once again, all the weapons and armor in WH:40K are far superior to what we use or even the UNSC has.

You also have to factor in the fact that the Energy it delivers is Radiant Thermal.
