    VaultingFrog:

I bet you the remaining 10 years of my life (I really dont want to go into that one)

Oh I get sarcasim and I dont mind being proven wrong. I am not really going to go into this with you however just ask yourself this, how would you feel when you knew you only had a few years left in you.

Might change some things dont ya think.

First off; don't. Forgive me if I sound harsh, but pity is often scarce on the internet. If you're dying, that's awful, it's a difficult thing. However, that is not our problem. Everyone here has their own problems; stress, relationships, whatever. We don't bring them into the Forums and expect others to sympathize. Everyone dies, it's a cold hard fact of life. Some sooner, some earlier, and some before "their time". This does NOT give you the excuse to demean and disregard members and treat them as though you're somehow better than them.

Leave personal issues out of your forum attitude, and treat others with the respect that is deserved of them. This could be some, this could be none. However do not disregard facts and try hard to consider the opinions of others. You're not immune to the User Policies that this site has and neither are any of us. Treating people fairly is among those, no matter how crappy life offline is.

This is correct and I do appologise for it. I am not very happy with the way things are at the moment and I have taken out some of my frustration on you guys. For that I am sorry.

I really shouldnt be online however seeing as how I really dont have much to do anymore I am here. I am trying hard to refrain from these outburst. Bear with me.

Honestly I am giving up this arguement. I see no end to it. You both have points that you believe in and thats all that really matters I guess. Congratulations. The tired old man is beaten (sarcasim though I am an old man).

Now then I do have some things I do need to address with your statements.

    the Oceanborn:

The first highlighting somewhat strengthens our argument. Those people, degenerate as they are, buy the game for the sole fact that it's Halo. They don't question the gameplay, often don't understand the storyline, and instead turn to Mutliplayer. It's sad, but that's where sales come in.

The people that buy the game for the story are people like us. We're passionate about the storyline, not the name. Personally, and game that continues the storyline is good in my book if they do it well. However, what we're (Iceman and I) trying to get across to you is that from a sales viewpoint, the game would do far better with those rabid people who buy "Halo", not the storyline.

This is correct. I do not argue with it at all. I do however pitty the people who do buy Halo games for this reason. It destroys the very purpose of making the game.

And yes I would rather not see another Halo title come out as an FPS. The only exceptions are expansions on what they already have such as the ODST game.

    the Oceanborn:

So those 400 some thousand people that I see on Halo 3 nightly are nothing? I wouldn't say it's dropped like a rock.

Compaired to how many bought it I would say it did. Halo 2 had one of the highest unit to muliplayer ratios I have ever seen. I still would prefer Halo 2 MP over 3 any day.

That being said its my opinion, therefore indisputable.

    Anyways....*sigh* onwards:

    the Oceanborn:

I wouldn't say it [the name] is an advocate of quality. I hear Star Trek, and I veer away form it. I don't like Star Trek, and I don't care what the content is. They could tell the exact same story that Halo did and I would still veer away. Why? Because it's "Star Trek".

I talk to people who have never played Halo, don't know what the story is about. The minute I say "Halo" they say "Oh, that's the game with that Master Chief guy, right?". The name tells them what it's about when they know nothing of the content.

That is a personal issue I suppose. I dont mind that you dont like Star Trek, its not of your generation. However most people know who or what Star Trek deals with. They know that the Enterprise is a ship in there and it plays a huge role. They also know there have been several different generations of Star Trek.

The same is applied to both universes. Do not denigh Star Trek that.

Other then that I have said I will stop arguing my point, I am too tired to do so anyways.

    the Oceanborn:

I don't think you do. I think you mind being proven wrong very much so, or you would at least acknowledge what we're trying to tell you. But I nit-pick and digress.

Honestly I dont mind at all. I love to be proven wrong however I to tend to not make it easy for people to do so. It makes me learn and become better.

Sarcasim is not lost on me either, I am just not a huge fan of it at the moment.

    the Oceanborn:

Actually we played Halo:CE long before Halo 2 came out. Though we completed the campaign and bought the subsequent sequels because of that story, the same isn't true for most gamers. Despite what you may think, we're older than you'd think.

Congratulations. That is why I asked the question instead of making an assumption. I am glad you started where you were supposed to.

    the Oceanborn:

Ask me anything about the Halo storyline (in a PM of course) and I'd be able to explain it to you as best I can. I would trust Iceman would have the same ability. Don't question our gaming style and interest just because you dissagree with us.

I didnt question your gaming styles. I gave a spesifc opinion on how I felt about band wagon gamers. I asked your "brother" (not sure what relation really) those questions for a reason.

Do me a curtisy and not make that assupmtion of me.

    the Oceanborn:

Really? Ask any game reviewer (and most people) and they'd say that Mirror's Edge sucked. I thought it was an excelenttly innovative gameplay style, and the storyline wasn't bad. You're talking to an English major here; to me the story is everything.

Again your personal opinion of a spesific game wasnt called into question.

Mirror's Edge was a very short lived "fad". It was cool to play it just like any number of other games because it made you fit in. That was the entire purpose of that comment.

People arent buying games anymore for enjoyment. They are buying them so they can fit into certain groups because they want to display a certain image. They are buying games with out knowing what they are about or why they should even play them. Its just an attempt to fit in and a very sad one at that.

Do you understand its meaning now?

Oh and btw as an English major your spelling kind of sucks, though mine does too.

    the Oceanborn:

Yes, yes we can. Stop judging our character by saying you're a bigger fan of the Halo story than us. You can deny that as much as you want, but that's the way I'm taking it. You're quickly loosing respect with me here. I honestly thought that an older member would have had more grace than this.

I never once said I was a bigger Halo fan then you. However I am sorry I insulted you in any sort of way.

If I lose respect then oh well as I have lost respect for who I am. But again its a personal thing.

And thank you for the grace comment. I am not kidding about it either.

    the Oceanborn:

He mentioned Twilight, not Twilight Princess. I knew many girls (and guys) who went to see the movie JUST because it had the name "Twilight". Some came back and said it sucked, others came back still star-struck by the glittery-[F-Bomb]-vampires. You start selling anything that says "Twilight", see how well your sales do.

I appologise for not understanding that part of his post. He mentioned Zelda and Twilight. I put two and two together. Sorry for interpreting it wrong.

I dont particularly like Twilight either but it is a matter of personal opinion. It has done rather well for itself, it has its own T-shirt lines, book and numerious other things.

It has hit a large part of the population and done a good job at it.

As for buying the stuff, like I said its a matter of personal opinion. Its just like the Harry Potter games, I found that they were total crap, others didnt. To each their own.

    the Oceanborn:

The Halo line was meant to be 3 games? Then how do you explain Halo 3:ODST? That'll make the fourth game in the series, and even Halo Wars tells what led to the events in the FPS. Technically that's 5 games. The name tells us what universe the story takes place in, so therefore the name of "Halo" would be a necessity in future games continuing the Halo Universe.

The outside of the box isn't such a scary place...

Halo 3: ODST is not a full game. It is an addition to an already existing game so it is not a 4th title game. Halo Wars is of a seperate style of gameplay and was not made by Bungie. So Bungie is still sticking to its word.

And I have thought outside the box, on more then one occasion. A new Halo title isnt needed. The series is starting off with a clean slate, why not give them a new title to go with it?
