look guys, you might not like it, infact you might hate it, but the fact is the firebase is staying.
now that thats settled i can say why the firebase is loads better than c&c3 styles of bases.
1. it will stop players from 'build spamming' were players can simpiliy build 20 barracks and then be able to make armies in moments (same appyies to resource gathering, and building cheap assault camps outside somones base and then unit spamming them)
2. by doing this, and then having specific build points for firebases across the map it will make players engage in more than 1 conflict ( which is ussualy what happenes in games were players have no need to move outside their base except to attack ((which every 360 stratagy game has done so far))players will now have to figh for other bases, on multiple fronts.
3. it will make the game more unfrequent user friendly- for ex. i dont want to have to play halo wars everyday to be able to play online and have a chance ( you will notice that in stratagy games your not familiar with online tactics with, you will get domolished) this is because there are many stratagies that can be employed to win not just a select few ( for example in AoM if when playing online, you always have this delecate balence between eco and military that player are always tweaking, but generaly it remains the same.)
4. although the base that esemble "whiped" up for E3 a few years ago was pretty cool, they never had any intention for using it in a final product because its simpily too complex for a 360 controller to build (probly even a mouse too) i mean yeah it was cool, but face it its just too hard to be able to let players build somthing like that in a game.... unless you want to start out with a premade set of walls and buildings as your base which would defeat the eco purpose of stratagy games
5.this design appeals to the covenant MUCH MUCH More because realisticly the covies dont ussualy construct bases on planets, maybe defendable camps but nothing more--- the idea that the covies send down single, attached bases is far more realistic than a covenant who is deploying barracks, houses and tank factories all over the place when the covies actualy just beam it down form their ship.
6. (this is why we shouldnt have c&c3 sttyle bases either) this brings me to my next point which is that its just stupid for the unsc to be making all these 'war factories' on the ground when all they are doing is sending down pre created supplies for the bases to 'strap together'--- unless u sugest that each factory have its own supply pad which would make no financial sense whatsoever when you could have one large base supported by its own supply pad.
ive got a few more points but i think you get the idea....
