Pieman191:
Boot To The Head::Not all bipedal mechs are Japanese is right! Ever hear of MechWarrior? But it is an intresting Hypothesis that you pose. The Cyclop's legs also remind me, of sorry to say, the feet of a Gundam mech.
Another non-Japanese mech was the giant robot from the show Megas XLR. It wasn't Japanese, but it was made by war mongering aliens in the future. And this robot landed in a junkyard in New Jersey, so I don't why people say the cyclops in Japanese.
It's a general steriotypical veiw that blocky mechs that resemble walking tanks are all american, while the curved, sleek looking humanoid kind are all japanese. Most of the time, this is true, how ever you then have to consider that Chromehounds, probably one of the most realistic mech universes in terms of the roles and uses of mechs, is created by Fromsoftware, a MAJOR japanese mech related company. (They've done most of the Gundam games, Armoured core games and the ACE series).
