The Ark is currently damaged, the portalclosed down and we don't know how to open it up. It'll be a while before we can open it (rebuilding humanity's kind of a long and arduous process, you understand...) and find out exactly how badly damaged. The replacement ring was too far away for the actual SHIELD world to be damaged, but there you go. Other than that what remains of the Ark is something like 2 to the 17th  light years from Galactic center. It's that far away to be out of the blast radius of the rings. Take the milky way and set it out like a pie chart. each ring destroys beyond one slice, so that they can cover EVERY bit of area.
