Ok, so I have been betting a lot (in small amounts just for fun) on football games at bodog.com and it inspired me to make this thread.

 

In betting on a football game there is a point spread based on who is favored to win etc. and then there are also random bets you can take like will the 1st coin toss be heads or tails etc.

so in honor of sports betting and my 1v1 vendetta against on instinct, i have made this thread. feel free to put how much you would wager on each line. and feel free to add a betting line as you see fit.  just theoretically, if you could actually wager money.

Your odds are ridiculous. For instance, you can't have 7:1 odds on which map is going to be played. That would mean I could place a $100 bet on each map and I would win $200 no matter what. Put some more effort into this, you dope.

Think I'll take the 1:1 bets. Was never much of a risk taker.

no. with the DLC there are 7 maps.

if you put $100 dollars on all 7 you are at -$700

then you win no matter what so you go +700 so you are back to 0 get it?  when you place the bet you go in the negative.  7:1 means you put $1 in and get $7 which is a profit of $6 not $7

 

sorry if this was not clear.  

also normally the house would take in a rake of some sort like put in $1 and profit only 91 cents on a 1:1 bet but I wanted to be fair and give even money on everything.

At 7:1 odds, if I place a $100 bet on all 7 1v1 maps I will lose $600 and I will gain $100 x 7 = $700 + the $100 bet (that's how gambling works), that gives me a total of $800. Subtract the lost $600 and you get $200, meaning you gained $100.

Now apologize to me for wasting my time with your foolish attempt at explaining something to me. Also, you don't have to write the word "dollar" when you put the $ symbol in front of the number.

What I meant in the post when I put 7:1 was you put in $100 and if you win you get $700 TOTAL. so start -100. gain +700. profit = $600.  meaning if you put $100 on each you would end with $0. see the my reasoning behind this?

bookies make money by giving a spread for say colts -4 (-105) vs. titans +4  (-115) the extra (-105) or (-115) is a small rake off every bet.  this is how they make money. instead of 1:1 its like 91:100 so every dollar on this kind of bet only earns 91 cents for example...

 when people bet on both sides, bookies pay out less than they take in gaining them money.

ok 6:1 makes sense. but rakes are also a factor, check bodog.com almost no bets get even money on games with point spreads. the site gives less than 1:1 odds on both sides of the line. guaranteeing them profit.

Top 50 1v1 and 3v3, what is going on??

Really Planes you want him to appologize to you for being a complete idiot and being wrong over 2 points here. If there is 7 maps that means its a 7-1 payout. If you put 100 dollars down they take that money away from you. If you win you get 700 dollars which is a profit of 600 dollars.Your inititial 100 isn't profit because it was already yours. Very simple math.

So if you bet on all lines which in this case is 700 dollars because you have 7 bets of 100 dollars. So now they took your 700 and of course your going to win because you bet every line. So you win 700 dollars because its a 7-1 payout. You also bet 700 so nothing happened. Honestly how is this not obvious as f u c k.

If you still dont believe me and I have to actually convince you  then first of all go to any casino with roulett.  They have 7-1 odds if I remember correctly and if not any odds will work for this example because there is no spread involved. If you bet on all 7 you get your money back everytime and thats it.(If you won than thats not gambling and why woudn't you bet on all the odds everytime if it payed out)(Gambling  means you risk losing something and if your correct which your not you cannot lose which isn't gambling) If this wasn't the case everyone would bet all lines everytime so they are guarnteed to win. Think about how stupid you sound when you want someone to appologise to you when you have no idea what your talking about. If your method is true than go to your local casino and bet all lines on the roulette table and you will never lose. I guess your the first to think of this great strategy you better patton it before everyone breaks vegas with your new gambling strat.

Now you appologize for lieing to us about being good at halo wars and knowing anything about gambling. How can you win money if you bet all lines? THAT MAKES NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. You really just said you can bet all lines and win? REALLY? The reason its 7-1 odds because if it was less or more it creates and advantage to one side of the other. Think of it like this. It doesnt matter if its 2-1, 100-1, if you bet all lines your going to win your money back and thats it. THIS IS GAMBLING 101 AND IS A FACT.
