The E3 2007, which had the only worthy build of the game, was still fresh. Members were devoted Halo fans, and had come here because they wanted to see a fleshed, well designed Halo RTS. And when I learned that Enseble Studios, the makers of AoE, the game I've adored ever since I was young was making it, I drooled. And after seeing some of the threads here, I decided to join. And I entered in an era of enlightenment on this thread.
The "How To Implement the Flood" thread and all of its spin-offs. The multi-quote posts that Rot put up that spanned an entire page, and covered every point made by other members since the last multi-quote.
But slowly, as more screenshots were unveiled. An infection form was spotted in one of the concept arts, and finally the E3 '08 demo that left me in anger and disgust. Seeing uninspired characters, firebases, and marines that looked more like Spartan III's, a wave of new fine gentlemen swarmed the forum, and slowly, quality threads were trolled, and it was clear that this forum's days were numbered.
And the game released, the entire Game Suggestions got deleted, and a swarm of 12 year olds followed by the frequent banning of the old members due to the flame wars that ensued. I just gave up and left.
For those who joined after the E3 '08, who had entered into gradual death of this forum.
I am now semi-retired member.
To those who just joined.
Respect is not gained by how many posts you have. Rather the effectiveness of your posts.
