    UNSC vs. Covenant

I too wish there was was a way to play against only one or the other. I used to have no issues with it, but that was before the geniuses at ROBOT made the scarab invincible. Seriously? 25% increase in HP AND life? The rest of us already knew that with a couple engineers it was plenty strong. Now with a couple engineers it's stupid strong, and one unit can take out the full pop count of one... if not two other players. The covenant used to be  vunerable to a player who was able to combat the early game advantage of the covenant. Now it's impossible because the higher pop cap of the Covenant allows for a formidable attack force while the scarab is building. I'm constantly banging my head against the Pop cap just to ward off attacks... I really like Beasley's plateau because I feel like i can be on the same level as my attackers.

Also. If a unit arrives on my doorstep at 1:30, I should be able to destroy it somehow. I'm talking about the Brute Chiefton.(Whom I will hereafter refer to as "The Idiot") If I see him as my opposing player when playing against the computer, I'll build some units... and maybe some turrets... maybe lock my base to surprise him... I've tried it all. I can often scare him off. But I'm never really able to kill him. If I scare him off he almost always comes back within the next minute and has some form of reinforcement. It's ridiculous. I like to play against the computer. I can beat any UNSC up to level 135. I've beat the Arbitor up to level 129. I've beat The POR up to level 126. I can't beat The Idiot past level 110. Any Covenant has the advantage of unit diversity just because the leader is considered infantry... therefore they can build the counter to their leader's counter. The opposing player will be annihilated while focusing on the leader, which the games banner boasts "are the strongest units in the game." Why can't I beat The Idiot? Maybe because the Banshee is available after one research or claiming one reactor. If I build up a defense of flamers the Banshees will take them out well before the flamers are able to take out The Idiot. If I build a mix if Anti-banshee/Anti-Idiot. the D-bomb will wear out well before I'm able to finish killing him and he will kill all that I have in seconds. I don't understand why the Gremlin (which is apparently made of glass) needed to be upgraded to tech level 2 when it's really only effective against buildings and vehicles, meanwhile the banshee is more easily available and effective against all units

Nothing is a bigger advantage to the covenant than the whatever-you-call-it-thingy that automatically transports troops to the frontline. This should be an upgrade or something. Or make the Pelican transport cost 50 supplies or something. (I don't hate the pelican transport... but for the price of moving a decent attack force.... yeah, I'd rather walk.) I didn't really like covenant transport-thingy to begin with, but I guess I could kind of see where it was part of the "stronger-in-the-beginning" strategy that ensemble was going for. That was before the braniacs at ROBOT buffed the scarab. Now the covenant has the early-game AND the late-game advantage. My people call that THE OVERALL ADVANTAGE.

UNSC vs Covenant? There's no comparison. If you wanna win go with Covenant.

I like to play the game. I like to play as a human. (in game as well as IRL) I still think of the covenant as being the bad guys, and I am frustrated by the bad guys having the CLEAR ADVANTAGE. I don't particularly enjoy killing humans, (in game or IRL) and wish that my species could live on, but alas...  ROBOT has almost certainly condemned them to extinction.

The amount of fail is overwhelming.

Then why does the UNSC win 60% of the time?  I believe you're wrong.

Re: The amount of fail is overwhelming.

Why does UNSC have a 60% victory rate? That statistic is based on Standard games and Deathmatch Games. Tec level is almost irrelevent in deathmatch.., making much of what I said also irrelevant. I'm talking about Standard play. Or team standard play. In Deathmatch the battle is actually a fair fight because strength of the leaders in the beginning of the match is a non-factor because they're going up against fully-upgraded units. If you're going up against Cutter, for instance, you'd better bring a lunch... you're gonna be there awhile, even if you eventually win. In standard play Covenant vs. UNSC is a farce. You essentially have tier 2 units (covenant) going against tier 1 units (UNSC).  This is a challenge... a challenge that I used to love. Then they buffed the scarab. Suddenly, hanging on to life.. knowing that I could turn it around at the end... Yeah, that illusion disappeared. All they had to do is bum-rush me so that I'd burn my D-bomb. Then they'd keep me busy until they could return with a leader and a Scarab. That's all that's really needed. Those two units alone are an army in and of themselves... add in a few various other units. and some engineers. YOU'LL NEVER LOSE! If you're luck enough to have a UNSC player who'll throw up a heal ring on your team, you've got enough to take out several armys. Maybe the solution is to make it so that the Vulture isn't nearly worthless. I don't know. Buffing Hp 25% OR life by 25%... yeah. dumb. but do-able Buffing BOTH by 25%? Asinine.

You might be right. Before this game I had only owned one other R.T.S game. I'm not hardcore R.T.S fan. I AM A HALO WARS FAN. I've played this game almost daily since the day it came out. I bought this game for two of my friends so that we could play it over Xbox live. I resent the insinuation  that I don't know much about this game because I don't own a library of RTS titles. I've gotten to level 138 on automatic difficulty... I think that's pretty good. I don't particularly give-a-*** about other RTS titles. I know what I'm talking about on this game. Thank You.

I think I've sufficiently validated my original post.

Um, no, that 60% win rate is based on standard alone.

    The standings are:

    Standard:

    UNSC: 60%

    Covie: 40%

    DM:

    UNSC: 71%

    Covie: 29%

    Keep Away:

    UNSC: 55%

    Covie: 45%

    Tug of War:

    UNSC: 61%

    Covie: 39%

    Reinforcements:

    UNSC: 82%

    Covie: 18%

There you go.  Invalidated across the board, even though your original attempt at invalidating my first post failed.

Re: The amount of Dfang's fail is overwhelming.

And what is the ratio of gamers who play with UNSC vs. those who play as Covenant?

If both factions theoretically won 50% of all games, but UNSC had 70% of the user population; That would mean that the UNSC would have a 65% margin of victory.  Your stats mean nothing.

So? 65% > 50%  I fail to see your point.  And the fact is, UNSC doesn't win everytime as you theorized in your opening post.

Ok some guy, I'm assuming you aren't even bordering on middle level play. I can tell, because you think scarabs are a factor in any game. By the time a covenant has a scarab, you should have at least power turret. Not only that, if you are successfully harassed by an arbiter or other covie leader when you are a UNSC, then you fail. And if your teammate is a covie and decent, he will have vampires. Tanks eat scarabs, and vampires eat engineers. End thread.

Re: The amount of Dfang's fail is overwhelming.

Here's some math you'll learn once you get to 10th grade.

Let's say that 1000 games were won when played Covenant vs. UNSC.

    30% were using UNCS

    70% were using Covenant

That would credit 300 victories UNSC. 700 Victories Covenant. Indicating that the covenant would have a 70% share of overall victories, Right?

    WRONG

    WHY?

Because those victories are only indictive of Covenant vs. UNSC.

If there are 1000 users online playing 1v1at the same time, there are going to be 500 victors.

If Covenant players and UNSC players each have a 50% success rate that would then credit 250 victories to each faction Right?

    Wrong again.

    Why?

If 75%  of the community uses UNCS and only 25% uses Covenant the stat gets a little confusing for the mentally handicapped.

Why? Because playing as UNSC does not  guarantee that you'll be playing against covenant or vice-versa

That means that the covenant effectively plays 50% fewer games than the UNSC. The stat changes when you consider that some of those Covenant are playing against other covenant. (which effectively eliminates one of them from the victory pool.)

    So think of this.

There are 10,000 games played on a certain day by random users. 70% of them are going to use the UNSC and 30% of them are going to use the Covenant. This makes 14,000 UNSC players and 6000 Covenant. If those number of teams were to face off randomly, that would mean that the UNSC would already have the advantage based on numbers alone. If the covenant were to win 75% of the games they play, that would already mean that they could only win 4500 games. Again. That number diminishes if they end up playing other covenant... and some of them will. But there's no 100% accurate estimation of occurance on that... so I'm not going to include it.

This means that of those 10,000 games 5500 were won by UNSC. and 4500 were won by Covenant. Which indicates that the Unsc has a 55% win rate and that  the Covenant only has a 45% win rate... right?

    WRONG.

We've already established that the purple ***** won 75% of the games they played.

So knowing which faction is used more becomes one of the greatest pieces of info.

Please include that if you'd like to validate your invalidation of my valid statement.

Oh. I truly don't care what you think of me. Period. I could be a smelly, overweight, drunken,12 year old who has the IQ of 75 and eats earthworms for breakfast. You and your buddies don't have the right to belittle me and tell me I should kill myself.

    Scarabs not a factor?

I'm pretty sure that if you claim a base site... throw up 3 shield generators.. and then just keep throwing your remaining pop count at them, keeping them occupied in case they get anywhere near you.(not that they're gonna take down those 3 or more shield generators anyway, right?). you've got a great chance at having the late game advantage... which to me makes the things which facilitate a early game agvantage OVERPOWERED.

You can't claim you need a late game advantage if you already have a good early game advantage. ROBOT buffed the Scarab because rookies like you couldn't finish the game before the UNSC made it to full strength. Then you whined because you didn't have a good way to defend yourself at endgame. Your right. It should never come to scarabs... It it does than the team who dealt with the early game disadvantages should rightfully be able to claim the victory they deserve... but nope. You jokers think you need the super unit to end all super units.

Scarabs not a factor? Get real.
